I have a K&B .40 glow plug engine. It will not turn over. I want to take it apart and inspect it. Anything I should look out for when doing this? I want to try and free it up. I did spray penetrating oil into the glow plug hole as well as the exhaust outlet. Any suggestions?
btw, I crashed this plane several years ago and never did anything with until now. It's possible the engine has suffered serious damage. I just want to see if I can get it running again.

Sounds like some dirt/moisture got in there from the crash. That really stinks, especially because moisture means rust, and rust means no more running. But it could be somthing else...
Good luck,
Mike

Jake is the K&B case intact? or broken anywhere?
This engine has two ball bearings supporting the crank. Most likely they are frozen but by left over fuel deposits along with a stuck Piston ring. At the time of your last flight were you using all synthetic fuel? It so the bearing balls may be coated with rust.
Got an old camp stove or hot plate? Get a pint of antifreeze put it in the pan, place the pan on the stove or hot plate, on LOW heat and drop the engine in. Let her stew for two hours pull it out and most of your problems should be gone unless there was internal damage.
K&B 40's are good engines good power range but the engine is somewhat large cased. Good Flying.

Thanks Mike;
I think I'm going to disassemble the engine tonight and see what I've got going on inside. I have tried soaking it to no avail. Guessing I have more damage than previously thought. I'll post what I find.
Thanks;
Jake
