Hi everybody

I'm trying to get an old acto ride on tractor back to life. The engine turns easily without the plug and sparks well. With plug in wont turn over easily?

Any body got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Normally, that's the way it should be. With the plug in, you are turning the engine over against the cylinder compression. With the plug removed there will be no compression and it will spin easily. I would check the timing also.

More of a description would be helpful. You cannot compress a liquid and if fuel is getting into the cylinder and you try to turn the engine over it will feel like it's froze up. Is the fuel float allowing fuel to enter the combution chamber when it shouldn't?

also quite possible that the compression release inside the motor isn't working properly, if the engine didn't have regular oil changes, I would guess that the compression release is gummed up with old oil

The first thing I would do is have the battery load tested and see how many amps the starter is pulling. Could very well be a bad battery or starter.
