It is that time guys and gals. The SnowBirds are over and it is time to get down to it. We are starting to work out some oval racing at one of the nicest facilities around. If people don't know, the track is 100x47. SMOOTH HIGH bite flat asphalt. Smoother than most carpet tracks. There is no on-site food, but there is a Chinese place next door and a pizza shop across the street. Around the corner is the normal fast food options.
I was out measuring lines and getting the straights worked out. The lanes are going to be about 15 feet wide. The ice will be 16x4.
Racing will occur on Sundays not Saturdays. We are still working out details about what days and hours of operation.
Nothing is official yet, so don't call the track asking tons of questions, as they will not be able to answer them. There is still a lot to figure out before we go live with this. I will keep everyone posted here.

I hope we will get enough interest to keep this alive once it does start up. The track gets 10 to 15 guys on Sundays now to practice at 10 dollars a head.
How often would you guys like to see races? Every other week? Once a month? I do not want to conflict with Glen Burnie or other large events.

With the sad news coming from snowbirds concerning Seaford I gues you can count me in on any racedate that does not conflict w Glen Burnie.

You know guys the best way to get an oval track really cooking is to start with an easy, inexpensive (slow) class that everybody runs,.... like a legends or spec sk or spec powered pancars,.... cost controlled motors and batteries that is the the key.

This is true. Normal rule of thumb is get 4 cars and we will start a class. I know in on-road we have a big mini following. Starting to pick up is the vintage class.
I personally would love to see the Losi sliders take off. Buy the car and that's it. I know they have a good following on the dirt oval at Bumps and Jumps. I would love to see some of them come to this track and run.

Jamie, you know you have my backing on ANY OVAL event there. As we talked about it on our trip to TN.

The Colosium would be a great place to host a big event. Mike may be on to something there???? Maybe we should chat via phone and see what we can scheme up?

I'm interested in this. We have run mostly dirt and during the summer I like to race outside but I'm real interested in The C as it's only about 45min from home. I'd like to see maybe every other week to start.

Getting back into rc oval after a LONG time off, only 20 mins. from my place! A legends or slider class sounds great,my son and some of his buddies would run that in a heartbeat.I,on the other hand, could drop some $$$ on a top end oval effort with very little persuading! lol .Keep it fun and affordable...they will come.

Jamie the next races at GB are the 2nd 16th and 30th of march. That's if I remember the schedule right. Outside of those dates COUNT ME IN !!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

Maybe we coould make the classes 4 cell stock 17.5 and/or 13.5 brushless and those WAY cool sliders.

Trust me folks this place has ABSOLUTELY the smoothest track I have ever seen. The asphalt has been laid so smooth that from even about 10 feet or so away it looks like black ozite.:thumbsup:

Not yet no. I have been gone all week working. Next week I will be able to put in some more time. One plan though is to use a bridge for the transponder loop. This saves us from cutting the asphalt up front. If oval turns out to go strong at the track, that may change. I have most of the details worked out now as far as track layout, ice, loop and lane design. WHen we go racing, I will post it here as well as many other locations. I want to see a huge turnout. It hurts me right now to have a track this close that doesn't run oval.

Mr. Hanson - I believe there are quite a few racers that would support oval there, I know I will keep us posted on a start date.
