OK -- I have an "SK Newbie" question for you... Something I never had to worry about with my "regular" oval chassis has come up while setting up my skateboard...

Windtunnel spec packs are just a bit too "fat" for the Associated style battery cups... I did some test fitting with an old GP3300 pack with no problem, so I assume it must be the heavy duty shrink wrap over the pack and/or the way the wires are routed down the side of the pack, inside the shrink... I clearly don't want to violate the shrink wrap, as that negates the very idea of 'spec' packs...

Any "tricks"...?

PS: Since the pack will "fit", but then the hold-down bars are too short (the pack distorts the cup sides a bit) -- I've thought about just crafting a single, diagonal hold-down made to fit... Is this a good solution?

What I did was attach my batteries was made an "L" bracket on an angle facing back and the other facing forward. See attached photos.

That's the best I can do for you.

Yea these AE batt cups have been around probably since AE first started up. With the size of the batts a little bit bigger than hmm Nicads they tend to be a bit snug top and sides, What we came up with was a Delrin strap with a thumb screw for easy release, which you can make yourself real easy or buy it here
http://shop.kskts.com/product.sc?categoryId=3&productId=99 it is nothing special but gets the job done, another trick us cutting out the bottom of the battery boxes which also lowers the CG a bit, gets the batts right on the chassis instead of 1/16 of an inch higher than it needs to be and will also give a little more room up top when using the straps. Hope this helps, keep the ?'s coming no problem at all.
