Yes JL is pricing themselves outta business (IMHO), I used to buy $15 average in a week on JLs, that and usually more if I got to the city and found a better variety in the stores.

Sure most folks will argue that JLs are more detailed, closer to scale, and more interesting castings for the price..But..Even that is becoming less applicable.
The whole morphing of RC/ERTL with JL castings is a put off to me...You can buy more bang for the bucks in other brands, and there's a wealth of current & up and coming companies/brands to get into. A few of them are becoming more popular than JL to. I honestly have not seen any castings of late than I get the urge to go hunt for..No sir it's become a different and sad game of late.
Now it's become tough for me to find or buy JL stuff where I used to..Even if I find an occasionally COOL casting, I always look at their price, and in most cases just move along. Possibly trade someone for it down the road....
To each his own, but I focus on finances and other things first..JLs way down the list.

I like Jada. Last year they were outnumbering my JL purchases for a while, simply because there were a lot of cool jada stuff on the pegs and little JL to be found. This year, my focus has been back on more JLs, which is what started me collecting in the first place...although I am leaning more towards OLDs more now.

Jada will probably get the lion's share of my retail purchases though, possibly followed by Matchbox, which has some nice stuff out there as well.

I'm also buying less JL cars. I'm enjoying the JADA "1/64" cars, especially since they are putting the thick rubber 'slick' tires on some of them. I also like the 1BR cars that are about the same size as JADA cars. I started buying JADA when Wave 1 BTM cars came out and have almost all of the roughly 160 BTM cars. I'm glad I started buying them back then because I almost passed them up since they were larger than JL's. Now I prefer them to JLs. Isn't that funny! I now wish I hadn't passed up on the first couple of waves of the DUB city cars.

I agree that the price on JL cars has made me pass up on most of them lately. I used to buy more JL than anything else, and collect most cars in the different series. Not anymore, RC2 overpriced themselves right out of my market!!!!

I was also turned off a bit by the Jada size when I first saw them. The thing that got me to start buying them was that the colors of the cars looked so nice. That 69 Blue with flames Chevelle is so nice looking.

The larger Jada don't fit in my acrylic cases with the JL's, GL, MB's and HW. I have them in a separate case with the 1BR and few JLFT cars I have. These cars all look the same size so together they all look normal.

The main reason I still buy Jada is that they have a lot of imagination. You can never tell what they will come out with next. Their "For Sale" series has been incredible. The two pack sets have had great themes. They do a good job of mixing up street cars with race or police cars.

The thing that Jada did miss the mark on though was their Camaro 2 car set. Granted they might have not done it for fear of infringement from Dreamworks but if they had made the older Camaro as one of their "For Sale" cars it would have looked even more like the Transformer cars.
