View Full Version : Track Communication
Tim Mc 02-06-2008, 12:20 AM I read a post here where someone talked about broadcasting their racing over FM frequency. Can anyone tell me how this works what it costs & where to buy the FM transmitter?
Also, does your track use two-way radios on pitroad to help with cautions and correct car placement during cautions?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,
Our track uses radio with head sets to help run the race. One on pit road and one in the building at the computer.
Not sure on the FM deal Tim.
We got ours at Radio Shack
Chance62 02-06-2008, 02:33 AM We use headsets and radios between the flagger and scorer. As far as the fm broadcasting, we do have that capability but havent used it much. Here is the e-mail address to our race day coordinator. He is the most knowledgeable about this in our group. His name is Clay Nulle.

P.S.
I believe Tom Hughes knows quite a bit about that stuff too if you can get ahold of him.

fish4check 02-06-2008, 11:57 AM Timberline Raceway use a FM broadcasting system. Which allows the racers and spectators to hear the race director without using loud PA speakers. Just tune your personal radio to desired fequency to hear broadcast.
We will be bringing this sysytem to The Dirt Nats in July.
Here is the link to the system we currently are using.

We also use FM 2way to race officials on the track.
tshughes 02-06-2008, 12:43 PM The Ramsey package is good, the only problem is they
can't sell it assembled anymore so someone has to build
it, not hard but a lot of sodering of somewhat small parts
is required. I've put together 3 of the sets. Don't have the
time to do it any more.

Mike Clark 02-12-2008, 08:37 PM Hey Tim,
Hobbytron has a unit ready to go for $139.00 . It will cover our race area with ease.
wfw94 02-21-2008, 09:44 AM The Hobbytron is a great unit, that is what they use @ Cherryville (The Greatest Show on Dirt), worked great @ the US Open Wheel race, it came fully assembled.
Tim Mc 02-21-2008, 09:46 AM This is probably the route we'll take.
Thanks for the feedback.
