Just wondered what different oils and consistency's are used. When I bought my WCM in 04 it came with 30 weight motor oil all the way around, except for the left rear. It came with Tranny Fluid. Just wondered what some of you guys think works best. I know it can change from track to track. Thanks

Funny thing.

I got my WCM and had no idea there was no oil in the shoks as all. I ran them dry, and it didn't work real bad, but you can imagine, it wasn't pretty!!!

I got the new shocks and tested out several shock oils, including motor oil and transmission oil and even WD40. It all works with the right setup under it.

What I have been told and, again (it all works with the right setup it) is if you use a 20 lb spring, you want to put the same weight oil in that shock. (I have been using Trinity 100% silicone)

In the right rear I tend to go with a heavier oil by 10 - 20 lbs, depending on the track conditions. The other three I will be as close to the spring weight as I can within 5 lbs, again depending on the track conditions...
Bumpy track will see lighter oil, where smooth and banked will see higher weight oils. You really need to get the combination of Shock, Spring and Tire compound correct in order to be fast. That is what most of the racers play with, the rest is just fine adjustments and radio...

Also depends alot on what knid of shocks you are using, do the pistons have holes in them,is the track you run on smooth or rough, banked or flat, and so on! get with someone at your local track and see what they are using thats usually a good place to start and fine tune from there

I use Motorcycle Fork Oil It's designed for Shocks, and cost is about $10.50 a quart, not for a few oz's.

I use the same oils as in my AE RC10, 10 - 50 wt Silcone $20.00 bucks for enough to last me a full season and thats changing shock oil after every 4 races or sooner if needed.

We are running on a banked oval. Most of the WCM drivers are using integy 120 to 140 weight shock oil.

Hey I didn't go cheap with the two ounce bottles. NO I got the four ounce bottles! If I rebuild after 4 races I should run out sometime in July? All well AE is ready when I am.
