I am ready for some racing! 21.5 lipo sounds really good to me, also would love to run the nitro's if we can find a place.

We are in the process of cleaning out the building now. When we finish with that we have a place in the floor that must be fixed before we can put the carpet down.

Just got back last night. Man its good to be home. Cliff I wont be going to work for a while so if you need any help just let me know when you are going to be working on the track and I will be there. Cant wait to go racing. Just have a couple of questions. 1. What tire compounds do you think will work good on this track? 2. What will the run line distance be? 3. what is the projected "opening day"? 4. What were they running at the birds as far as tires go? I know we will need to get some laps in and kinda dial everything in, and get adjusted to racing on the rug, Im just looking for a good starting point. Anyway if you still want to get everyone together for dinner and talk about what we want to do I am available whenever, just let me konw.

I would say pinks and purples like @ Pooler for starters. A lot depends on what class you run. The novice and break out classes will run spec tires only to keep costs down. I know you will be looking for a 30-35 shore on the rear and 35-40 on the left front and depending on traction 35-45 on the right front. There are several compounds that land in those perameters both in exotic and long wear compounds. Jack the gripper will be the only tire sauce allowed @ the track. If you have other compounds leave them @ home please. There are a lot of factors affecting our opening date but I would say 30 days would be the max unless we have trouble getting the rug.

I understand. The main thing will be the tires. You stock em and I'll buy my share!

Echeconnee

You are right, bodies should last much longer as will other parts because of much slower impact speeds. I am not sure about front end components but there should be much less dirt and grit to wear the parts.

Echeconnee
02-07-2008, 05:19 PM
The 21.5 and 2 break out classes should not even require a wing. From the information I am gathering the novice class will be a 5 second break out and the next class up will be a 4 second break out. This is not set in stone, I am just thinking out loud.

Notes: I don't think the dampening tubes are better as far as function goes. Where they are better is they stay the same run after run. I hate the small side shocks! If I don't run the dampening tubes, I run a TC3 shocks setup as side shocks. I don't like the small side shock and never run them! JF

SETUP INFO

Dick Jarvis's Short Track Carpet
06-07-05

Dick Jarvis's setup used on his '05 Maverick HE at Maximus Speedway carpet track.

Hi Jake
Well I got back from Maximus Speedway in Maine after a very long day on the road, but had a great time. The car was awesome!!! I don't normally run on that big of a track but it was fun. They didn't have a big crowd but there were about 6 of their top racers there and the Maverick held it's own. I ended up qualifying 2nd. Had a chance for the pole but I wasn't patient enough. I ended up 3rd in the A after 3 wrecks which wasn't bad considering how rough it was.

The car was really good in the turns, it seemed to come out as fast as it went in. It was very consistent all day. There were some racers asking me what kind of car and how I liked it, so I told them where the could get one just like it. Here is the setup i ran which was very good but i have thought about some changer i will do before i go to the next race.

Front tires: LF BSR green with 1/2 paragon and 1/2 TQ mod , RF BSR silver/gray std TQ mod
Rear tires: LR BSR green with paragon, RR BSR gray/white with paragon
Front springs: LF wolf green pro, RF wolf green std
The only lube i put on the kingpins and on the other pivot points of the front end is slick50. Made it super smooth!!!
Caster: LF 0 RF 2 degree
Camber: LF +1 RF -1.75 degree
Upper A arms: LF 2nd hole down from top RF 3rd hole down ( hyperdrive 5 hole caster blocks)
Center shock: HPI 30 wt oil with #4 piston and associated silver spring
mounted in 3rd hole from top using the 2nd hole from front of chassis with approx 1/8" droop
Side shocks: CRC shocks with 30 wt oil LR spring Asc blue, RR Asc gold
both rear shocks are mounted in the center inside holes
Finishline med spring steel T plate with 1/2 degree rear steer
T plate is offset and the pod is straight up
Rear track width 202 mm with LR 3 mm out farther than LF tire
Battery tray 2nd to last hole all the way back with 1.5mm shims under the battery tray brace
Rear axle was mounted in center set of holes
Front end 1/8" back from the front of the slot
1.2mm chassis stager and 1mm chassis rake
Mcallister Charger body mounted at 4.25" to top of roof

This set up is for a flat carpet track with 141 ft runline

Hope this info will be of use to someone.

Later
Dick J

After reading this rules packadge this will be the rules we follow for the most part. The 13.5 class will be the only one that totally applies but other than that everything else fits ie: bodies, weights ect. The only exception to the 13.5 rules is we will run a wing if we want and the back of the body will be allowed to be cut out. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=196335
