View Full Version : Good game...
tjd241 02-03-2008, 11:23 PM New England left nothing on the field... except their rings  .... Line up nay sayers... step right up and let me get'cha some ketchup fer yer hats ! ! What else can I say except they're called The New York Football Giants. ;) nd
1976Cordoba 02-03-2008, 11:33 PM Aside from watching the two ass-whoopins the Jimmy Johnson-led Cowboys put on in the SuperBowl in '92 and '93, this was about the best championship game start-to-finish I think I've seen. It was nip and tuck the whole way.
SplitPoster 02-04-2008, 01:00 AM I love the sports talking heads - the ones who run their mouths and put on a show while only spouting the "conventional wisdom". Listen to them and there would be no reason to play the game - either the super bowl or BCS championship! Pats and Buckeyes, hands down...hehehe!
What a great game, I actually want to see the highlights again. Offense and DEFENSE!
Haven't been a Manning fan, but I was glad to see him and the whole team play their hearts out and win.
Bill Hall 02-04-2008, 04:23 AM All hail the underdawg.
Defense wins championships...what a great show!
coach61 02-04-2008, 08:38 AM two Quarters of no movement is a snore fest.. you guys ever watch Canadian Ball..? The D was good but not as much as the Of was bad yesterday.. big diffirence...

RacerDave 02-04-2008, 10:09 AM It was a fantastic game. A real thriller. I'm a Patriot fan and I still enjoyed it. Dave.

The Giants Manning (upstart) scores with 35 seconds on the clock (Burress no less) Brady (golden boy) chokes. The underdog goes home in glory. Giants Perfect season. Dynasty crushed. Thats entertainment. mj

I second that. That was beautiful to watch the patsies go down. I couldn't imagine having to listen their their fans yap about "the greatest team ever" for the rest of my life. Their whole season means absolutely nothing now.
Franko 02-04-2008, 03:21 PM Best Super Bowl game in many years. I'm glad there were no wardrobe malfunctions in the halftime show. I'd hate to have glimpsed Tom Petty's wrinkled butt.
Ligier Runner 02-04-2008, 03:22 PM I'm a Steelers fan living in the middle of Colts country so by and large, the game meant nothing to me but I did get a bit of satisfaction with the outcome. I've just never been a huge Pats fan and I enjoyed watching the Giants take it to them.
Plus ya gotta love it when the talking heads and oddsmakers decide a team resides in "nochanceville" and they (the team) proves 'em all wrong.

While I concour and always pick the dawg, I probably coulda lived with the Pats gloating. But another season of Mercury Morris yammering on and on is not exactly a pleasant thought either. It should be mandatory that ALL teams lose one game per season early and keep those mummies in their tomb where they belong. :p
I just love the way Eli "Brett Favred" his team to victory.... rumlin' bumblin' stumblin'! Watching the Giants used GQ Tom for a tackling dummy was priceless.
The original LT's (not the wanna be one) words popped into my mind...they played like crazed dogs...and the only thing they left on the field was the tattered carcass of the Patriots. ;)
videojimmy 02-04-2008, 06:33 PM I'm a life long Giant's fan and I saw this coming. I even laid down 100 bucks and won 400 (4-1 odds... love it.. more slot cars!) My co-workers thought I was crazy... but I knew. The "Jints" got better each passing week over the last 6 weeks and the Pats seemed like they were coasting. They were ripe to get knocked off. Belicheat acted like a spoiled child after the game... when Moss outclasses you in the post game, you know you have problems.
Now I'll get to see all the phoney fans claim they always liked Eli... they know better than to run that tripe past me. I knew this kid has the stuff, allhe needed was a team around him that was balanced.... unlike the Tiki and Shockey days were ever play had to run through one of them. THIS team was a real TEAM. They deserved this win!
That will teach the Pats to try and copyright "19-0" BEFORE they actaully are 19-0.
Now, they'll be remembered as being the only team to win 18 games and no championship. The Jints are young and talented... they will win at least 1 more title with Eli... mark my words.

I know you're not referring to Mr. Tomlinson now are you? If so, hate to break it to you, but he will go down as one of the greatest. Sorry, but I'm a Charger homer ;)
Bill Hall 02-04-2008, 07:12 PM Aces,
That last comment smacks of "Patriotism"! ;) ..... :p

There, I fixed it.
citylights17@ho 02-04-2008, 07:58 PM Oh i forgot The commercials sucked and Tom Petty Kicked ASS !! mj
Tyrees' "helmet catch" will go down in history.
grungerockjeepe 02-04-2008, 08:23 PM Ive been a Giants fan since I can remember so Im super stoked. Hell one of my earliest childhood pictures has me in a Giants beanie standing next to my dad's snow-plowing Jeep. That pic was a good foreshadowing of 2 things that have stuck with me ever since.
But it was an awesome game to watch, and as much as Ive trash talked my Packer and Patsie buddies, NE really played a good game. Theyve got nothing to be ashamed of when it comes down to it.
Now Ive rebooted my Tyco-Jeep-CJ-decoed-in-Giants-trim ideal all over. Gonna have to score some decals because its too good of an idea to pass up.
coach61 02-04-2008, 09:54 PM I'm a life long Giant's fan and I saw this coming.
I have to agree I saw it coming too.. One team I did not want to see against the Pats was the Giants ( guys from chat may remeber me saying anyone but lol). Only thing is the ad agency's will suffer this year cuz Eli is one goofy looking farm boy lol.. Guess he can do Popcorn comercials.. And I knew Jim was a Giants fan for a while so congrads buddy...

We watch different games? Ne Was horrendous but I would like to have Chuck Norris Round house kick who ever passed on the 3 pointer in the 2nd quarter.. that was plain arrogance and I said to my wife. " thats gonna come back to haunt somone" Rule number 1 to any little league coachs, or guys starting out.. Never ever never pass on pottential points...NEVER! Ne As much as I love them got what they deserved...

2.8powerranger 02-05-2008, 12:18 AM I dont think the game was as lopsided as the anouncers said,2 teams beat the heck outta each other for 4 qtrs.IF,IF manning would have gone down sacked, poss diferent out come.if N.E would have nailed a f.g.I didnt see the first half,,but did N.E loose a right offensive gaurd or a tackle.? if so thats a big issue.seems like they bled from the right side pretty good.N.Y played a superb game,Im a pats fan of 33yrs love em or hate em those teams could play 2 more times and split wins and losses. no other team in either league could beat either one of them last night.gonna be some good games om both next year. congrats N.Y.
bumpercar88 02-05-2008, 01:52 AM Been a Giant fan a long time. Seeing Eli scramble out of a sack to complete to Tyree brought back memories of Fran "The Man" Tarkenton. I thought that the game was a nail biter with a dramatic ending. I think that the one sided run away victories are rather boring.
I believe two plays captured the spirit of the two teams. Moss captures a touchdown and struts to let everybody know how good he is. Burress catches a touchdown and gives thanks, a sign of humility. The Patriots were the better team however they didn't play to their ability. The Giants weren't that good but they played beyond their ability. The Patriots are the better team but the Giants are the champions. Spirit and effort can make a difference!
Don't forget that several "key" Giants players were injured to include Shockey and Ward. These "starters" may not be next season. No names such as Bradshaw, Boss, Hixon, Smith and Alford stepped up.
A young team (excluding Toomer and Strahan who both will probably retire) w/o superstars. Rookies with post season experience. I like it!
RacerDave 02-05-2008, 11:19 AM Hey bumpercar, its funny you mention Fran Tarkenton. I was thinking the same thing watching the game. Eli played great and even wears Fran's number ten. It was a great game and I loved every minute of it even tho I am a Pats fan. Living in the Northeast the Giants were on TV every Sunday so I always liked to see them do well also. Football fan Dave.
roadrner 02-06-2008, 03:45 PM :thumbsup: Great game, deserving win! Thanks NY Giants.
See you next year at Fed Ex! Da Skins.
