i'm thinking of getting back into the RC hobbie again since leaving in the 1980's....when i had the wild willy and an RC10 electric buggy....i'm looking at the HPI Savage X 4.6 RTR, Team Associated 1/8 Scale Monster GT 8.0 Nitro 4WD RTR and the traxxas e-maxx or the revo 3.3....i'm not getting into racing yet but just getting going for now....also what would be a good radio set up if i don't get any package deals from above truck kits that come with radios....also want to get 3 or 4 sets of tire-rim combo's that will cover hard pack dirt to loose dirt and street use, so what tread designs would work....i already have an idea as to what upgrades i'll go with on each of the trucks listed above...........................bob

The mew traxxas emaxx is a great truck. It is Durable, powerful and fun. It is also waterproof so if you want to run it in the snow or mud or through puddles it is Ok. I have also heard that the revo 3.3 is great, durable, ect. I personally like the savage x 4.6. They are proven to be almost indestructable, the 4.6 really makes it fast and powerful and would be even faster with a three speed transmission, and you can make them into a basher or a racer. If you live in a wet climate get the emaxx, if you want to race get the revo 3.3 or a team losi LST 2, and for bashing get the savage. I am not saying anything about the monster gt because I know nothing about it. As for the radios it really depends on how much you want to spend. You will probably want to get a spektrum dx3 or futaba 3pk of 4pk. Proline road rage are great road tires, big joes for loose dirt, and bow ties for hard packed dirt. As for the wheels I would save some money and buy beadlocks. The best are Maximizer beadlocks for tmaxx sized wheels or proline commando/ Axial oversized beadlocks for 40 series. That is my oppinion and I hope this helps.

the ones that come with the truck are perfectly fine especially the losi LST. It has a nice radio. Also if you are going to race I would probably go with the LST. It is strong and even with the stock engine it is fast. Although the savage can be a good racer it usually takes a lot of money to be good. The lst has a lower center of gravity stock. Like I said for racing the LST is the best choice. Also look at the traxxas revo 3.3. It was built with only racing in mind, where as the LST was for both racing and bashing.

revo 3.3 ... upgrade it with radio / jr z1 or ko propo ex10 with spectrum pro receiver and module and hitec 955 servos and you will be good to go.
or you could buy a decked out kit truggy mbx5t/ strr / xt8 / losi 8t all good trucks cost you about 2 g to do it up right the first time

i keep seeing the servos with a T or S rating for speed or torque, my guess is speed is for throttle and high torque is for steering, plus i was thinking of going with dig servos and have quality stuff right from the start....a couple of advertisments i've read on 2.4 dig radios are they don't have the crystals but are programmable to the differnt frequ................bob

If you have that much money definetly get the good stuff. I would say get one truck for now get it nice and sweet the once you get back into the hobby have it figured out again then get some more trucks. You seem to like the Losi LST so get that and if you get that truck of course get the LST 2. As for the radio get a spektrum DX3R, spektrum DX3, futaba 3pk or 4pk, the DX3R and 4pk are the newer ones and are the best. Either you can look around for high torque/speed digital servos or I believe the DX3R is progammable for digital of analogue servos so you could stick with the stock LST twin servos which have a lot of power already. then with the money you saved you could buy a better, more powerful engine. I can not speak for the MGT but I would say the LST is better and that is the one I would get. also the spektrum dig 2.4 that comes with 2 receivers and servos that you are talking about is almost the same on that comes with the LST; the Spektrum DX3. Or you could get the, just as durable and versatile, savage x 4.6 for 200 less and spend the saved money on digital servos.
