Let's see if I get these...
Current crop of oval chassis includes:
KSG
Associated
Maverick (are they in the process of desgning a new car?)
R.I.P.
Leading Edge
HyperDrive
Custom Works
Any I forgot?
What chassis are the conversion kits? And are those based off of Associated's 10L3/L4? Looking at cost (full kit vs converions).
Thanks.

Associated pretty much started the game along time ago. Bolink had a pancar too but I'm not sure who was first. Many of the complete kits have Associated parts on them
I did the math on this a couple years ago.
If you buy a conversion kit you have to add on all of the front end parts, center shock mount, pod plates, axle, hubs, bearings, body posts and maybe a couple other things I can't think of off the top of my head. It can really add up and may exceed the street price of a complete kit.
But, with a conversion you can cherry pick your components as far as what you like from one manufacturer or another.
The best advise I can give you is look around your local track and see what everyone else is running and who is fast. Those are the guys that can give the best information about the cars they drive.
Honestly, they are all good in the right hands. Full kit or Conversion kit.
Here's another conversion;

KSG
Are all full kit cars.

Are all conversions.
All are based on the Associated cars. Coversions can be very cost effective if you are upgradeing a chassis with useable parts but can get expensive if buying all new parts. Full kits can be bought at great prices from some of the HobbyTalk sponsors.
Several of the chassis companys have new cars coming out during/after the Snowbirds.

KSG will be coming out with a GEN3. Not sure about Hyper Drive, but I hear that Associated has also come out with a new car. I have not seen the new cars yet. Once I see the Gen 3 I will decide if I am selling my GEN2.

Actually we do make both complete and conversion kits for our 1/10 oval chassis, The Enemy. We also have a new chassis and front end in development for an anticipated fall 2008 release.
