Allright, which one is better in your opinion and why? What type of track do you run on short, oval, paperclip, little banking, high banking? We have a fairly short tri-oval track with quit a bit of banking, what would you suggest? And why?

Thanks

monte carlo or dodge body, monte has more foward bite dodge has more rear bite. my track is an almost flat oval i have run the dodge body on it there and the NCS race in dallas which is more banking with a little longer straights with great lap times and finishes have not run a monte yet but my teammate does the same results for him as well it just goes back to the setup under it bodys change the handle from one to the other just my oppion

thats what i've found for the most part. they are all good but you do need slightly different setups for each one.

I have run a truck which is a what ever you want it to be body as far as I could tell. Then I switched to cars, I ran Fords first because I got 1 for free it seemed OK, then when I need to buy a body I bought a Monte Carlo (I am a Chev Man at heart) I liked the way it handled so I have stayed with the Monte Carlo for some time now 3-4 years. This year I for one reason or another am going to try a (and a hate to admit it) a Dodge body on 1 car and keep my Monte body on the other car. There is one guy at our local track that won all but one race this year and he runs a Dodge body, is it the body that did this I don't think so. Is it the body and chassis YES, his car was so smooth in the cornors it was unbelievable thats why he is fast. Not just the body. The car I am going with the Dodge body is a new WCM cage car so I don't think it will be a fair test either because it's a new chassis also. I here all the talk about this body does this and that body does that, but what you need to keep in mind is that they all will work. Alot depends on were the body is mounted front and back on the chassis and the hieght of the hood and deck lid, the angle of the spoiler and the spoiler hieght. I have never had all 3 body types at the same time to try at the track on a given day. Some guys say the Dodge has more front downforce Ok but were is it mounted how is the chassis set up. A good friend of mine only runs Fords and he can make them work. I guess what it comes down to is run the style you like and make it work for you.
Well I guess I used up my soap box time on this subject so that all I am going to say!!!...

Yeah I ran a truck last year, Loved it by the way. This year they have decided to scrub that class   I have always been a chevy man so that is what I have run in the past. No one around here has really never run a Dodge, it is always chevy and ford. I here the M/C has good front downforce and the ford has good rear down force. I was told that the Dodge was more equal front to rear? I am leaning towards a Dodge.

Thats right. The chevy is a front down force body, The dodge is a rear down force body, and the ford is some were in between. Thats why I like the ford body. I like a real free setup and the chevy body makes the car turn to hard.

FORD WITH CHEVY STICKERS = CHEVORD

FORD WITH CHEVY STICKERS = CHEVORD turn to hard not for me. that is why you played follow the junk when you came to lpr.lol different strokes for different folks. guess i am going to do the dodge deal this year just seems i was always chasing to get the loose out of my car all year. i kept up good enough to stay right their with willy. i never stopped trying to find that happy medium with the monte ran like 9 percent steering most weekends at lpr and 12 percent at dallas with the monte they will turn in hard so you got to fix that in the setup!!! all are fast just depends if you won't to wear a bowtie or drive a body where they circled the mistake (FORD) or a dodge everyone elses mixed up pos. just my opinion bowties look better at the awards ceremony

I think the biggest advantage to the dodge is its rear spoiler and how it wraps around the rear end thats what gives it more rear downforce over the ford and chevy. But if your car pushs you may want to consider the chevy much better front down force. all has to do with your setup which end of the car are you struggling with? And mounting it is very important also like Chuck said. I ran a chevy for 3 yrs and struggled with loose rearend switched to dodge last year and wouldnt go back..i just put chevy head and tail light decals on the dodge CHEVODGE

thats what i have found. they all are good of course but the chevy seems to be inconsistent with its balance from one race to the next. not out of control but you can tell when its not perfect and not like it was the last run. My good racing buddy and I always felt this way after running the body a few years in a row. we didn't understand why it was this way. but now after reading your post i think we know why.
I never thought of the changing track conditions being the reason. but that makes alot of sense. the track we ran it on started during the day and ended late at night. big changes in conditions from hot during day and cool night here in ohio. track temps and air density.
the ford and dodge dont' seemed to change from run to run. I feel they are very balanced from front to rear and that probably why. not sure why but at my current track i perfer the dodge.

Clever, but the best I can do for Dodge is Dodge=Dodge Or Dead, General Expression. lol

Now, I'm just having fun, cause I work at Ford, my wife works at Chrysler/Jeep. Maybe we can get together and make a Pontiac. Don't make me come up with an acronym for that. I have one, but can't publish it...

I drive a Dodge to a Ford plant. Gota walk a mile from the parking lot cause they won't let me park any closer.

I'm making a Truck to race with this year. It's going to be a Dodge body with Ford decals. At least it's all American...

Oh MAN. You should have gotten a F150. I'd get you the X plan at least. The only reason I got a Chrysler mini van is because I got $10K off the bill through my wife. The difference between the Titan and the 08 and 09 F150s are drastic. All F150s are made in the USA. We make em here in Dearborn and KC.

LOL, no problem, but next time let me konw. If you need a pickup truck, look hard at the Ford F150. If it gets made in Dearborn, let me know and I'll set it up as a show unit from the factory. When they build it, i can watch it being built and when it comes off the line, it will go through an intense screening of all parts and functions in our FCPA room. The Trim manager and Plant manager as well as the M10 driver has to sign off on the unit before it goes to the dealer. The M10 driver is a manager in the plant that has to fill out a form on any unit they take home from the plant. They do this keep quality up on the rest of the units. Anything that they find gets fixed and any trends they see will be dealt with on the other units that get built. I bet your sales guy can't do that.

I'd be happy to do that for any of my quarter pounder friends.

4. Toyota Tundra
5. Pontiac G6

Jim-

The latest platform for the F150 is awesome. My Pop has a '98 and I don't care for it. My brother has a 2006 and it is unbelieveable when compared to the previous generation. If that offer is still around in a couple of years, I will be consulting with you!!!

willyplankhead, what can I tell you? Go test drive a new F150 and let me know if you still feel that way.

Jeff, that's OK, I don't think Randy can get you the kind of treatment I can.

I work at the Dearborn Truck Plant, (at work now) so I may be a bit bias, but I did some of my own comparisons. I test drove a Dodge 2500 last week, then went 30 minutes later and test drove an F250. This is a direct (Apples to Apples) comparison and the F250 is by far the better of the two. I went to a chebby dealer the next day and drove a Silverado 250HD. Had to give the power and price to the F250, although not by much. Load copasity and wheel base as well. I must say that the ride was about the same, but different between the F250 and 2500HD.

I have an '07 duramax and I absolutely love the truck. It has a 6sp. allison with manual shift which is awesome for towing. We have an '05 duramax that we use to pull our '48 trailer. We towed from washington to california with the car, pit box and all kinds of stuff and that truck blew me away with how much power it had and how well the ride was. That trip alone is why I traded my powerstroke in for my duramax. If not for my duramax...I would have gotten a Ford though. They are nice trucks....but I love my duramax baby!

It's all good Jeff, I just hate it when people get the non-american trucks. You may be getting an american assembled vehicle, but the dollars are going to another country. Our manufactures can't do the same thing. Not only that, but I got photos of plants like the Toyota plant in Texas being built. Guess what kind of truck 90% of the trades building that plant were driving.

Anyway, I'm way off subject here. I can't wait until the stupid snow goes away and i can put my truck on the track for the first time. Looks like that might just be Easley.

No they did'nt buy it back. But they did make me very happy in the end. I said it is the best hauling /towing truck I have ever driven. It will tow more wieght than you could think of towing with a 2500-3500 truck. Even chevys 4500 doesnt have the towing capacity this truck has. The chevy 4500 cost $24,000 more than my truck.

Aside from the couple problems I had the truck has been great. It was a fuel pump problem, I guess at the time I was just really mad about it and did'nt think about it. Parts fail. Thats not really fords fault. I've put 12,000 miles on it since and havent had any trouble at all with it. Even with the problems I still would'nt drive anything else. :) Hows it go? Id rather be broke down in a ford than drive a chevy. :p :p

Tim, No you dont have to have a commercial tag. I have one because of my business.

That's good to hear Lance. A buddy of mine was told that Ala requires anything over the 350 to use a commercial license plate. So, he still pulls his long enclosed with a F350. It does the job but it's no 450 :).

I have owned a least one truck of each mfg Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota and even an I-beam 56 International with a rare 3 speed factory floor shifter. I can honestly say that there were good & bad in all that I owned.
