Now, I'm fairly new to this hobby of collecting.. But is it just me, or Am I seeing more and more "rare" cars showing up on the bay with missing tempos/paint? Any history to know which cars actually were mistakenly produced this way? Just seems too easy to strip the paint, call it rare, and sell for a handsome profit?

It's a very valid question as I've wondered the same thing myself. I do know that cars can and do come out of the woodwork that former Aurora employees had/have. I've seen many variations stemming from such places.

They could be rejects that were rescued by workers, held on to, then that person dies and passes it on, or he just gives them to people.

This is the first grenn nomad without stripes I've seen.

Remember that guy who was making/taking one-ofs at the AW/JL plant? I think this is an Aurora version of that.

There are lots of non-tampo variations, and yes they are more desireable.

I'm watching that green nomad too. LOL.

Removal of factory paint will generally leave some sort of tell under close inspection. A miniscule remnant in a cranny under magnification or an imperceptable line/impression. Even if completely removed the amount of patience required to duplicate the factory polished look is not something a lot of folks are willing to do.

If just stripped there will be and impression or line. If wet sanded and polished it's no easy feat to remove all traces of the "cut" job. Most guys dont take the time to progressively work through the grits. When you roll the body into the light at just the right angle you'll generally find some cross hatching or odd sanding scratches that were missed.

I know it may seem cold but I assume these "deletion of detail cars" are fakes. That being said GG has always been straight up with me. Sure the factory oddities are out there but I do agree they seem to pop up all to frequently. If the car goes for the reasonable amount of money and ya like it I say, "Why not?" But speculation on the "ommission cars" is always risky bidness.

maybe they sent it to you Bill and you did it, lol.

I never saw the solid green nomad, but I know the orange Vega was a real tough one.

I'm not trying to add validity to either of these auctions, nor am I saying they are original cars.....but both of these were sold by Aurora in this fashion as cost reduced....in fact, they are harder to find then those with Tampo's.
