has anyone tested a 4300/10.5 with nimh 4600's against a 17.5 with a 3200 orion lipo? we are looking into running an all-out class after running a year of set-lap.. break-out racing,..... using these combinations. some are crying foul so i just figured i would ask and see if they had been run together in competition? i was told they were an even match-up.

Dwayne, I don't know about an even matchup, but I think over the entire race they would be close. The up front voltage of the 4600 will be higher than the lipo, but over the course of the race, I think the lipo will be faster. The lipo will carry the car throughout the run, were the NIMH will fall off towards the end. Or, at least thats my experience with the 4200's.

well the races will be 4 min... i have heard the opposite. i heard that the voltage of the lipo was greater than the 4600's but the 4600's did not fall off as much.. that is why i figured i would ask.

BATMAN 17.5 LIPO

We run the 17.5 and 10.5 together last year (and we will again this year) but we only ran the 4200's last year..

But, if I'm not mistaken none of the 4600s have as good of voltage as the GOOD 4200's had... so other than the run time will be a bit better with the 4600's now, the speeds are probably even closer with the 4600's than they were with the 4200's.

They mixed pretty well on the Encino Velo last season...and we run 5 minutes.

Thanks for the post Randy, great example.

Had to check up some as I started behind Batman, but overall very close;last 30 seconds was watching him pull .5 sec away

I completely disagree here. your comparing lap times on 2 different cars... With possibly 1 car not being setup nearly as nice through the corners. 17.5 lipo should blow away 10.5 4 cell. At stricklands RC on about a 150 ft runline track I was running 21.5 lap times of 4.5 and 4.6, while the 10.5 guys were running 4.4 and 4.5. 17.5 should be atleast 2 to 3 tenths of a second faster then a 21.5 Granted to your average racer they're going to be pretty close, but 17.5 lipo on 2 well setup cars should be 2 tenths of a second faster then 10.5. The fastest lap of the day in 10.5 4 cell was a 4.39 while my 21.5 was a 4.50

We've done quite a bit of testing and actual racing w/ the 2 combined and have NOT found that to be the case. In fact on the Carpet the 10.5 so far has the advantage...on the asphalt they have been very very close as has been on the bigger velodrome.

This has been done with the SAME drivers trying both with very good setups..and very good level drivers.

yep Joe,we have Snowbird winners to back up our testing..

I've been talking to blackburn about coming down and running some SWt and a few Velo races..need to have Randy cut me a chassis
