Dave Hussey 01-22-2008, 02:54 PM LOL!!! I saw the title of the thread, though to myself "about time" and it seems like its not just me who thinks that!!!:D Huzz Old_McDonald 01-22-2008, 03:16 PM LOL!!! I saw the title of the thread, though to myself "about time" and it seems like its not just me who thinks that!!!:D Huzz Ah, yes, birds of a feather  Now, next on my list that I'm holding my breath for is: Robert wagner's "It takes a Thief". MartinHatfield 01-22-2008, 05:15 PM I.m still holding my breath for the 60's Batman. I figure that if all of the licensors (sp.) can come to an agreement to do the new Hot Wheels assortments, then they can get it together and get this show out on DVD. Admiral Nelson 01-22-2008, 06:52 PM I hated the Invaders. Poor David Vincent was always thought of as crazy and the show never came to a conclusion. Old_McDonald 01-22-2008, 08:36 PM I hated the Invaders. Poor David Vincent was always thought of as crazy and the show never came to a conclusion. Most shows in the 60 and 70s didn't have conclusions. I hated that the Robinsons never made it to their destination in LIS and the people never made it back to Earth in Land of the Giants, etc. But, The Invaders was a pretty realistic drama. Imagine if you woke up from a nap in your car and saw a space ship landing right in front of you. You'd have a hard time getting people to believe you too. I got my satisfaction from seeing all of those people "seeing the light" so to speak at the end of each episode. iamweasel 01-22-2008, 11:08 PM I have been waiting for this, I don't remember anything much of the show but I do know I loved it as a kid and I always hoped it would show up again in reruns. Admiral Nelson 01-22-2008, 11:08 PM The Invaders: alien beings from a dying planet. Their destination: the Earth. Their purpose: to make it *their* world. David Vincent has seen them. For him, it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a shortcut that he never found. It began with a closed deserted diner, and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy. Now, David Vincent knows that the Invaders are here, that they have taken human form. Somehow, he must convince a disbelieving world, that the nightmare has already begun... Seaview 01-22-2008, 11:17 PM True confessions time: 28 years ago I worked as a security guard, and as a joke to myself in honor of The Invaders, I'd purposly keep my left pinkie finger stiff while keeping a straight face while on foot patrol at a disk drive manufacturing warehouse. A great show, and I even enjoyed the paperback novels more. The saucer from the show was a nice, simple design and one of my favorite Aurora models as a lad in the 60's. phrankenstign 01-22-2008, 11:59 PM I don't remember much about the show except that the main guy had the red lights of the spaceship in his face at the beginning when he saw the ship landing......that the aliens would shoot with their finger....and that nobody believed the main guy. Oh yeah....didn't they leave a shadow of ash on the ground when they died? Those are just random memories of it. I do remember liking the show, but I couldn't describe a single episode. I hope I like it once I watch it on DVD. scotpens 01-23-2008, 12:15 AM The aliens disappeared in a flash of red light and a burst of flame when they died, leaving no trace. They had to periodically "regenerate" to maintain their human form (their true physical appearance was never revealed). They had a small, disc-shaped device that induced a cerebral hemmorhage when applied to the back of a person's neck, so the victim would appear to have died of natural causes. And they had those damn crooked pinky fingers (or was it the ring finger?). With all their super-advanced technology, they could replicate the human form perfectly except for that one detail? ONE FRIGGIN' FINGER?? The show's opening voice-over continued the sci-fi tradition, perpetuated to this day, that most TV and movie writers (Trek excepted) don't know the difference between a solar system and a galaxy. With 100 billion stars, our own galaxy is PLENTY big enough! BTW, check out this clip of The Invaders dubbed in French (and guest starring the late Suzanne Pleshette). The name "David Vincent" sounds so much more elegant when it's pronounced "Dah-veed Vah-sawnh." I do remember liking the show, but I couldn't describe a single episode. Those are basically my associations too. Yet another series from my childhood that I can't get too excited about now. It was definitely a Quinn Martin Production, which denotes a rather formulaic and clinical approach. Thinnes wasn't the most charismatic of actors either. If I remember correctly, the premiere episode aired opposite The Beatles at Shea Stadium on another network. I remember experiencing a slight dilemma in choosing which I would watch. I chose The Beatles. jbond 01-23-2008, 02:40 AM I rewatched this show when I was 18 or 19 and I was impressed by how sophisticated it was--a great exercise in paranoia. I will definitely purchase the set--I hope the transfers are up to the classic Trek and Irwin Allen releases... Mr. Wabac 01-23-2008, 04:07 PM Looking forward to this ! I can finally ditch some bad VHS copies I have of a few episodes, including "The Saucer". I hope the packaging is easy to use, for some reason I have trouble opening things, must be that problem with one of my fingers on both hands. Oops. Oh well, we're your overlords now anyways, I guess we can let it slip... phrankenstign 01-23-2008, 08:17 PM Those are basically my associations too. I remember experiencing a slight dilemma in choosing which I would watch. I chose The Beatles. I remember watching The Beatles at Shea Stadium too, but I don't remember it being aired opposite The Invaders. As big a Beatles fan as I was then and now, there's no way I experienced any indecision over watching The Beatles. Whenever any Beatles appearance was scheduled to be broadcast, the unwritten rule in our house was that we would watch it---no exceptions! My whole family (including my parents) liked them a lot! Beginning with The Beatles appearing on Ed Sullivan in 1964, all subsequent appearances found my whole family gathered to watch them on our Motorola 25" color television set. I was actually staying at my grandparent's house that night. Why I had control of the one TV in the house I don't remember, because that generally wasn't the case. According to the IMDb: The Invaders: Release Date:10 January 1967 (USA) The Beatles at Shea Stadium: USA 10 January 1967 (TV Premiere) Carson Dyle 01-24-2008, 12:07 AM I remember seeing commercials for The Invaders before the series aired. I remember the spots vividly because they scared the holy crap out of me. Dave Hussey 01-24-2008, 10:21 AM Yeah, it was pretty darn scary from a kid's perspective. I can't wait to get this series on DVD. I've got a couple of episodes on VHS that I picked up "used" from a video store years ago. They've intrigued me enough to want to see all the rest.
