View Full Version : 17.5 or 13.5
iroczcec 01-21-2008, 10:51 PM some of us are wanting to race a brushless class that might be just a tick slower than stock 4 cell speeds. we are going to be running murdock 3000mah sport packs. we are just not sure if we should run novak 17.5 or the 13.5. any input on these brushless motors would be very helpfull thanks iroc!
Rusty22 01-21-2008, 10:55 PM 13.5 is like a really fast stock motor. 17.5 is about the same speed as a good stock motor
mr_meat68 01-21-2008, 11:03 PM iroczcec, i just ran the 17.5 spec class at our track yesterday. it's exactly what you're looking for. just a tad slower than stock and a tad faster than spec. we also run the WT 3000 packs.
Alan Behler 01-22-2008, 08:42 AM 13.5 is like a really fast stock motor. 17.5 is about the same speed as a good stock motor
13.5 is not like a really fast stock motor.....
closer to a 19 turn
17.5 is like a very good stock motor
as long as your car is good anyways
Rusty22 01-22-2008, 11:15 AM keep getting those mixed up. thanks alan

Russ" It just goes to show that you never even tried a 17.5 or 13.5.
So why post something you don't even know anything about....LOL
abdule 01-22-2008, 04:13 PM ran 17.5 @ Marshall's, Alan is right. It's like a good stock motor with no drop off using 4600 sticks
briano_72 01-22-2008, 06:31 PM i ran the 17.5 in brl, its really nice, the murdock packs would make it a neat class. isnt the 10.5 supposed to be the 19 turn " like" motor ?? 13.5 is kinda in between a 19 and a 27 turn.
iroczcec 01-22-2008, 06:33 PM thanks guys! it looks like it will be 17.5!
SHADOW 01-22-2008, 06:45 PM I agree the 17.5 is a good stock motor but say the 13.5 is more like a fast ultabird 19 turn and the 10.5 is closer to an arcor/roar 19 turn motor.i ran the 17.5 in brl, its really nice, the murdock packs would make it a neat class. isnt the 10.5 supposed to be the 19 turn " like" motor ?? 13.5 is kinda in between a 19 and a 27 turn.

ummm.... the record at our local track with a 10.5 motor is 70 laps.
that is modified speeds.
Porksalot4L 01-22-2008, 09:45 PM look who did it! :) trinity wound lol
iroczcec 01-22-2008, 09:56 PM at our track the record is 73 for modified in 4 minutes i dont think you will get that out of a 10.5
Porksalot4L 01-24-2008, 12:14 AM what track? who are the top guys? just curious :)
pancartom 01-24-2008, 08:39 AM just a local observation.... Pete D'Agnolo runs at our local track, and has the records for stock (62 laps), 13.5 (68 laps), 10.5 (71 laps), and open 19 turn (70 laps). On any given day, there isn't anyone more consistant than Pete, so I think that his laps show the difference between these motors. Oh yea, Ziggy has the open mod record @ 76 laps.
MikeNum8 01-24-2008, 08:45 AM the 17.5 is like a good stock motor, the 13.5 is like a slow/medium 19turn and the 10.5 is more like a running a 13 turn mod
That's what it looks like according to Pete's runs. And i've scene the runs. So i would have to say that's pretty accurate.

10.5 is not that much faster than 19t. My brother and I ran 19T for the first part of this season then switched to 10.5, it is only half a lap faster or so at our local track (137 feet).
Steve.
iroczcec 01-24-2008, 10:04 AM chris klink has the stock record 61/4.00 mario marcello has open mod 73/4:02 and i have the 21.5 with cot body 78/5:02 i race at freddies hobbies in ravenna. we do not yet have a 10.5 or 13.5 record but we are working on running a 17.5 class with windtunnel packs.
Anytime72 01-24-2008, 12:28 PM Steve, When you guys raced at Marshall's a year ago. 19t was 67 and 68 laps (Valentine Style) this year 69 can be run without a problem and a 70 was done so far. 10.5 doesn't get run as much much as 13.5 but 71 will happen before the year is over. So I would say it's alot faster.
