trailranger 01-21-2008, 09:08 PM This thread is for the Bear Tracks Speedway race track located in Springfield, MO. This track was fromally MBMS Mike Bayless Memorial Speedway.
Videos of local Missouri and Arkansas racing can be found here.

trailranger 01-21-2008, 09:33 PM .Recent changes have taken place. First MBMS was closed and sold to Joshua Fitzwater. Matt Bayless the former owner was finding it difficult to keep digging into his pocket to keep the doors open. Along with the finance issues, Matt would like to start traveling to races and with a recent change in jobs owning and operating the track would not be possible. I bought the track knowing the track would close. The reason for this purchase was to keep the transponder system in local hands should an opportunity to race again arises in the Springfield, MO area.
This afternoon an opportunity did arise. The landlord does not want to see the club vacate the building. Tommorow Matt and I will talk out a deal if possible to reduce the rates for leasing.
I am asking the Springfield hobbyist to support a local venue and race. Racing Starts at 11:30, doors open at 9:00 on Saturday. The race classes will be 13.5 Oval and Stock oval. Road course will be ran if there are entries.
For the future of Springfield, MO r/c I am open. If possible, I would like to see separate race times/days for Oval and Road course. The reason being would be for faster qualifying and shorter race days. During "warm" months where racing in the warehouse may not be possible, I would consider parking lot or dirt racing. If attendance grows changing locations will be considered. This is all in the future, what counts now is current participation. Working together as a group we can improve the racing provided in Springfield
tfrahm 01-21-2008, 11:56 PM When/if you make up any sort of flier, email a copy to me at 'dordba@aol.com' and I will print some and post them around here... Saturday is when we race dirt oval, but not all the "carpet guys" race dirt oval, so maybe some of them can form "road trips"... I'm not promising anything (other than printing and distributing the fliers, but..?)...
I'd contacted Mike about an MBMS flier, but I now reaize it was already too late...
Matt Bayless 01-22-2008, 02:25 AM Josh deserves a big hand. With all the talk about racing wanting to continue in Springfield its time for racer to put up or shut up. As the saying goes. Josh isn't talking he is doing . So support him by showing up and raceing. Showing up and not raceing hurts when support is needed. The best way we can help is to show up and do what we love race. I will try my hardest to attend every other weekend. As that's what my 2 jobs will allow me to do. If I can do it so can you guys. And the word has leaked out already the biggest reason I sold out is if all continues I will be a dad. And with my wife ... Problem you know I going to need a lot of extra time to help her. And do what I want.
Night Rogue 01-22-2008, 01:45 PM All I need is a 0.63 non bias T-plate. I have to make a run on Friday night. Maybe I can grab a quick nap before it starts...
trailranger 01-22-2008, 03:10 PM Who wants Pizza? I thougt I would buy some pizza for the racers.
Racing starts at 11:30, Doors open at 9:00 on saturdays.
Should attendence pick up, I will look at lowering the entry fees. I will have to make that decision first week of march.
trailranger 01-22-2008, 05:01 PM Dennis, I have a .063 XCS solid KSG straight T-plate NIP, $7.50. I'll save if for you,
trailranger 01-22-2008, 05:34 PM Bear Tracks Speedway will be chartering as a Non-Profit. I am currently working to obtain insurance for the track (working draft on my desk right now). Once the policy is reviwed and bought I will bring a copy to post at the track.
Matt Bayless has been providing spare parts at the track. This service may stop due to Matt's limited time. I would would like to keep parts in stock so that racers don't skip a beat if something breaks. Knowing what parts to stock or roder will be up to you to inform me. This service would be to save everyone on shipping by placing one order versus several small orders.
Since Brushless is upon us and some maybe looking to convert.
I do have a spare Novak XBR Brushless ESC. It is new, but in an open package. XBR is for sale at $95. I have an 17.5 SS Pro or Motor NIP for $80 or a 10.5 SS Pro NIP For $65.
Beartracks will follow ROAR motor and Battery Rules. Minor modification to car class rules may be needed to accomendate everyone.
Night Rogue 01-22-2008, 09:51 PM Dennis, I have a .063 XCS solid KSG straight T-plate NIP, $7.50. I'll save if for you,
OK Thanks Josh.. I'll be there
tfrahm 01-23-2008, 12:54 AM Josh -- You have a PM...
sherm 01-23-2008, 02:14 AM And the word has leaked out already the biggest reason I sold out is if all continues I will be a dad.
Congratulations Matt and Amanda! Children can be the most demanding but most rewarding challenge of your life. God Bless!
I won't be able to race this weekend but I'll come up and smell the pizza. :)

p.s. I don't think it's legal to charge an entry fee as a 501 (c) 3

Matt Bayless 01-23-2008, 07:39 PM I am going all brushless. So all my brushed motors and speedos are for sale. P.M me if interested.
trailranger 01-23-2008, 11:58 PM Track Brochure made, I will have a few copies at the track. If you would like I can email the PDF to print out
I know it needs some fine tuning but this is more tangible than nothing.
sherm 01-24-2008, 12:20 PM There should be some buyers out there, I think brushed motors will be run at Paul Superstar West's track. That way guys won't have to spend a ton of money again to compete. Do you have any of those special track record setting motors for sale?

Thanks in Advance
paulwest 01-24-2008, 08:37 PM Don't you mean 4600s iv been runing 4200s for a year.
Night Rogue 01-24-2008, 08:59 PM Don't you mean 4600s iv been runing 4200s for a year.
I said 4600s, see?? :)
paulwest 01-24-2008, 09:51 PM I like that. :woohoo:
Night Rogue 01-24-2008, 10:03 PM BTW Paul, Got my $20 ??? :)
trailranger 01-24-2008, 10:49 PM Night I have been running EP4600's since November. They compare more to lipos, flatter voltage curve through the 5 min you race them vs. the IB's. My old IB4200's after peak detected and pack levels off for 10min (assumed time to discconet from charger, solder in, mount body and place on track) the voltage is about 8.75's or higher. The EP4600s level off at 8.60's. Im my opinion, the EP's are slower in the get go, but should have a higher overall avgerage voltage during a race.
Night Rogue 01-25-2008, 09:53 AM Thanks Josh. Do you notice any major differences when you are racing with them? Like improved speed or a bit more power?
Night Rogue 01-25-2008, 10:27 AM Does anyone have a link to where I can read the BRL rules? Thanks
sherm 01-25-2008, 11:27 AM Don't you mean 4600s iv been runing 4200s for a year.
Wow, Paul Superstar West is that fast with 4200 batterys, how fast would you be if ran the 4600. No wonder your garage is full of trophys! (huge trophys too!) :)

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

paulwest 01-25-2008, 03:01 PM Night Rogue -- BRL rules whay your not going to race  .
paulwest 01-25-2008, 03:47 PM HI sherm
Matt Bayless 01-25-2008, 04:12 PM Sign me up for 13.5 this weekend Josh. I will be there about 10:30 -to 11:00. That will give me thirty minutes before race time starts.
trailranger 01-25-2008, 08:45 PM BRL Rules
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=196335&page=1
The track will use BRL and ROAR rules as a suggestion to developing rules that accomendate everyone.
In SuperStock Oval (13.5 Motors), I feel it will be best to allow wings. With greater speed comes the need for stabliity which is why I feel the need for wings.
In Pro Stock (27T and 17.5 Motors), I feel it will be best to limit this class to just spoilers following the BRL rules of .75" long.
Sedan Class (13.5 or 27T motors)
1:12 Road Course (17.5 or 27T motors)
paulwest 01-25-2008, 09:08 PM IF you think we need wings for 13.5 you don't know anything.
trailranger 01-25-2008, 10:11 PM The reason for the optional wing in 13.5 class is because some racers perfer to race with them. These racers my be out of towners visiting, or racers who my travel to larger races that allow wings. This is an optional device, not a required one.
Paul, will your wingless car be at the track? My wingless car will be.
sherm 01-26-2008, 01:22 AM HI sherm
Hey Superstar
I'll see ya at the track tomorrow, get there early to avoid the crowd!

darkness 01-26-2008, 04:30 PM Special motors sounds like somebody who wants to complain that they are to slow. Work on your car work equals speed.
trailranger 01-26-2008, 08:33 PM Thanks for all the racers that came out, Dennis, Matt, Raymond, Harold, Jason, Paul, ME!
Matt Bayless 01-26-2008, 11:08 PM Bent motor plate that will make a car handle funny. That's two I have bent in the past few months.
paulwest 01-26-2008, 11:24 PM Fix it or i'll beat you by 4 laps next week. :woohoo: Instead of just 2 laps.

sherm 01-27-2008, 12:26 AM Special motors sounds like somebody who wants to complain that they are to slow. Work on your car work equals speed.
Yes, your right I am slow, but I'm special! ;) Don't think I was complaining, my 25 year old car (BLue Duce) has been very special to me and always runs well in a handout motor race!
Nice to see Dennis at the track today, I really like his dirt oval truck, he might be the one to beat at:
"Superstar Dirt Surfer County"
Who are you anyway, come out of the darkness so I can meet you!
Sherman Roth :)
Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember .
Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. "Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?" he asks.
"Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?"
"Sure."
"Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?" she asks.
"No, I can remember it."
"Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so's not to forget it?"
He says, "I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."
"I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?" she asks.
Irritated, he says, "I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!"
Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes,
The old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment.
"Where's my toast ?" :(

Night Rogue 01-27-2008, 01:23 AM IF you think we need wings for 13.5 you don't know anything.
I found out by accident that my car runs alot better without the wing anyway. Now on my L30 it was more stable with the wing..
Night Rogue 01-27-2008, 01:28 AM  My ice melted........
Will duratrax fix it?
That's because you have to many buttons, lghts, and switches hooked up to it.. :) I believe it has a five year warranty..
Night Rogue 01-27-2008, 01:32 AM Special motors sounds like somebody who wants to complain that they are to slow. Work on your car work equals speed.
I like the brushless because I can concentrate more on setting my car up.
Night Rogue 01-27-2008, 01:34 AM Fix it or i'll beat you by 4 laps next week. :woohoo: Instead of just 2 laps.
I'll be up there with you guys soon.
Night Rogue 01-27-2008, 02:31 AM I'll be there to race next saturday. My new battery tray should here by then. that'll eliminate the problem of mounting my speed control and get it off the the tire... :woohoo:
Matt Bayless 01-27-2008, 08:56 PM See you guys in a couple of weeks.
