wow. I'm gunna have to stop by. What tires worked for you yesturday?

Michael#81
01-21-2008, 06:33 PM
For Buggy Pink Taper Pin Slicks were the tire of choice early in practice and the first 2 rounds of qualifying. The 3rd round of quals I went to a 7202 front and Clay switches in the rear.

The truck was about the same until it started to dry out. In the main it was clay switches on al four or Pink tapers all around. I think that some ground down ribs would have been good on the front of the truck also.

Track is really big and very technical. The fastest lap times were right around 30 seconds.

The track is really starting to come together. They have not had to water it yet because it was so wet when they got it. I know they are going to start on a watering schedule this week so this coming weekend the track should be really tacky.

Hello everyone!

We just wanted to give everybody an update on our new facility and maybe answer some questions you may have. First of all, if you see other posts on other forums about our track, please let me know so I can answer those questions also.

Now, on to our new facility! We now have one of the largest indoor R/C facilities in not only the U.S. but the world and by far the biggest in Indiana with both tracks. I'm sure that we may not be the have the biggest tracks but we for sure have one of the biggest facilities with indoor dirt and carpet under one roof! Anyhow, we feature a full line hobby shop in the facility for all of your needs, and we think that it is one of the nicest track shops anywhere. Our facility also boasts pit space for between 150-175 drivers (once the bigger pit room is complete in the coming days) and a drivers lounge with vending machines, and concessions on several race days and coming soon furniture and satellite TV so that you never have to miss that game or race when you want to R/C race.

On to our tracks, the dirt track is 110'X60' and is surfaced with some of the finest red clay to be found (same red clay used at Bloomington Speedway). The design comes from Drew Loftus of Team Kyosho and we would like to thank him for all of his work and ideas. We would also like to thank Adam Drake and the other guys over at Team Losi for their input and guidance in putting this all together. We have computerized AMB scoring and lap counting. As far as the classes that we have on dirt, Michael was correct in his post about having a lot of electric guys, but we welcome all classes of nitro guys also. We have 2 big air handlers to pull the fumes out and we hope that you guys come on out and race. Call all of your nitro friends and let them know that you now have a big track to run on in the winter that has HEAT! As long as we have enough to run in a class we'll race em'. We have had a lot of help getting all of this together and we would like to thank everybody who has came out to help us make this a reality! Racing on the dirt track will be on Sunday's with the doors opening at 10:00a.m. and racing will begin at 1:00p.m.

Now, on to the carpet track. Our carpet track will be completed by next week if all goes somewhat as planned. It will feature a 60'X58" track with brand new Ozite racing carpet from the guys over at CRC. Our carpet track will feature a design from the guys at Team XRay (thanks Ralph and Roco) and we are thinking about the possibility of incorporating the design to be flexible enough for an oval, but that has not been completely decided as of yet. We plan on beginning to race on the carpet track on next saturday 2/2/08 if all goes as planned and we will try to keep everybody updated. We are currently talking a little bit with the guys in Terre Haute about an indoor carpet series between their track and ours and we'll try to let everyone know about that as things come together. We plan on racing on the carpet track every Saturday night with the doors opening at 10a.m. and racing beginning at 6:00p.m.

Our practice schedule for the dirt track is going to be on Tuesday nights from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. and on the carpet on Thursday nights from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. below please see our hours and contact info. We are open 7 days a week.

We are currently talking with some folks about hosting some regional and national events in the future, so keep an eye out for more information on that.

Please visit our website if you have any questions or comments and leave them on our forum. You will find a great group of racers there and more information about our track. Please give us a call or email if you need to speak with either Jarman or I.

We agree for sure with you guys on the subject of electric and nitro on the same days. However, for right now, we haven't gotten a lot of commitment from the nitro community to open another night of racing. If we can get some nitro guys to commit to coming here and racing we will be more than happy to open up Friday night nitro racing. If you guys can get the nitro crowd together, we'll do it. We don't have a lot of contact with the nitro guys in the area, because for the most part we are electric guys and our prior facility was way too small to accomodate the nitro cars. So, let me know what you guys think and if there will be enough support (at least 15-20 racers on a Friday night) from the nitro guys, we'll be more than happy to do open it up for Friday night Nitro Racing.

Thanks,
Tony

I think what he means is that you electric racers don't have to be scared of us NITRO racers.
At Joe's in the summer we have several B/L monster trucks that run with the nitros and it is VERY competitive. I have also seen some electric conversion 1/8th scale 4wd buggies that would race with the nitros and probably win! I personally don't see what the big deal is about racing electric and nitro on the same day, we have been doing it at Joe's for several years. It would be a good way to boost attendance( in my opinion ) and to get more people interested in racing. What you negative electric-only racers are missing is that this is a new facility with the airhandlers to handle nitro fumes! There are enough pit areas where the ones who don't want to be around nitro don't have to be. You can't make everyone happy no matter how hard you try anyway, so do what makes YOU happy.

NOW, That being said, how about some NITRO racing?:woohoo:

The reason electric guys don't like running with Nitro is for one, the 1/8 beat the crap out of any 1/10 thats out there. It isn't a matter of who will win, its whose car will stay together when the big bad 1/8 runs over the little plastic car. Two, alot of the electric guys don't like the noise, or don't like the fumes, and there for, don't run Nitro.

Yes having Nitro guys run on the same day will boost attendance the first time it happens, every race after that electric attendance will drop. It has nothing to do with Electric guys being wienies, but they have chose to race a class for a certain reason, they want to stay away from Nitro.

There is nothing wrong with having Nitro on a seperate day. If there really is enough guys to come run, I know Jarman has no problem running them on a seperate day.

If this track were outdoors it would be a different story. Wouldn't be as loud, no fumes to have to breath in, and its warm.

I am a Nitro'er in the summer, so don't take this as I hate nitro, but I am, and know the guys I race with, are against running it indoors, with electric. The times I have run Nitro indoors, I can't see for a day, and feel like shit from breathing it all in. If you guys like to do that, have at it, I am not trying to turn you away, but the 5-6 nitro guys that show up, will turn away the 30-40 electric guys that are already there.

well put that way it's a diferant story. i thought they'd run 1/10 with 1/10 and 1/8 with 1/8. i also drive nitro in the summer and i perfer being out side not because of the noise or fumes but bacause i'v been stuck in doors on carpit all winter. we'll be working on our summer dirt schedule soon and we'd like to invite you all to come race on the dirt at joe's with us nitro or elec. will i'v talked long enough. keep the speed on the ground and happy racing:wave:
