b/c many can't afford the millions to build it in manassas or DC where it needs to be in order to support a full time hobby store. It may work somewhere else if you have good online hobby shop. Tracks aren't gold mines.

I think one could work in the Richmond/Petersberg area, but it would need to be marketed. Also a killer online hobbyshop, or be attached to a Hobbytown. If you have a stand alone track really the only think you can hope for is to break even. That generally wont happen unless you get a killer deal on rent, or you own the building.

I don't know how close Goldsboro, NC is to you guys but we run carpet oval during the winter and asphalt oval during the summer, so if you get a chance come run with us. Web site is; www.glennshobbycorner.com

I would have to agree that the Richmond area would be a good location but it can’t be hidden away in a warehouse on some back street, those days are long gone and that’s the dilemma. To put it in a well traveled area usually means high rent and the square footage that it would take to put in a substantial track would probably be prohibitive.

I think that a full line hobby shop operated six days a week plus an online presents would be a necessity. Hobby Town is the only game in Richmond and they carry VERY little oval stuff. Bottom line: BIG bucks!

Joel,
You are the computer guy and Hobbytown does have franchise opportunities. You should go for it. Me and the other three people from Virginia will support your new business adventure. I would like to see another track in VA like Winners Circle. I do not know if you had the opportunity to race there but it was Big, Banked, and Fast. Larry and Lin where around then.

Yeah, if I could find a job there I would.

I would love to open up a Hobbytown on the southside of Richmond. I think the city is big enough, and we could pull from the southside, and Petersburg. I wish I had the money to put up to do it. Could do parking lot racing in the summer, and carpet oval, and road course all year. Plus I would love to have a 18th scale track, as those are becoming very popular. I have great ideas, just not a lot of backing...

Hey Joel, if you build it, we will come! Linville hobbies in Harrisonburg just built an 1/18th scale banked dirt oval that they will be racing 18th scale on, in the spring and summer. I already have my 1/18th scale late model dirt oval cars, getting them ready! Beach
