I have recently purchased an Evader ST and everything seemed fine until I performed the IMORTANT maintiance on the differintial gear in the manual. Now my car seems to squeal, (didn't before), and when I roll it on the carpet turned off slowely, it seems to feel rough...the wheels will grab, then let it roll for a piece of a turn, grab again etc.. What is the deal? Too Tight? Way too tight? When I loosen it up a bit it doesn't seem to turn the slipper cluch.

Please help, the manual hasn't been much help at all.

Thanks,
The Streakman

Well the way it sounds the gear mesh it to tight or there is something wrong with the transmittion I am not shure about the Evader but your best bet is to take it to your local hobby shop or call Duratraks. Some people refer it to (DURATRASH) but I think they make some good equipment. Like the ICE but thats about it.

i have the evader st pro and when i turn one wheel it turns the other backwards like it should. i dont think these cars are trash just people underestamate them. i think you could have something in the mesh in the tranny or the diff isn't together right or to tight

i would say loosen the gear mesh if you watch the dvd it came with it tells you exactly how to do it.

I have seen the DVD, read the manual, etc.. but what I found out is that it worked great before I performed the emphasized maintenance.

BTW, can you lube the balls in the differential with a light grease or oil, or will that cause too much slippage for it to perform correctly. The reason I ask this is because I was afraid that I may have torqued the diff too tight and I wanted to see if the gears, and or aluminum plates the balls ride on were damaged. Everything looks fine, but I wanted to know if I should and or can do this before re-assembly.

Thanks,

Yes put some grease on the plates and balls. Just tighten it until it wont slip.

Thanks, I will slap it together and let you know what happens.

Just slapped the tranny together, put everything back in place and found that the pinion was too tight against the spur. Also, an important note, I noticed some oil or grease that must have found its way onto the slipper clutch, so it was adequately removed and now it runs like a champ. Now I guess I need to learn how to drive the thing!!

I am a moron and cannot remember how I posted my thread yesterday. Where do you go to begin a new thread?
