View Full Version : RIP Suzanne Pleshette Guy Schlicter 01-20-2008, 07:22 AM Hi,Just saw the morning news.Suzanne Pleshette from The Bob Newhart show passed away from lung cancer. She was 70 Y3a 01-20-2008, 07:25 AM I think it's spelled.."Suzanne Pleshette" Guy Schlicter 01-20-2008, 07:44 AM I corrected it,Thanks. Admiral Nelson 01-20-2008, 08:03 AM I corrected it,Thanks. You were just pulled over by the spelling police. He needs your license, proof of insurance and high school diploma. I think the spelling police scan the boards for spelling errors just so they can bust someone. :p Eric K 01-20-2008, 08:29 AM I'm sorry to see her go. I know I'm not the only one who had a crush on her at one time or another. frankenstyrene 01-20-2008, 09:28 AM You were just pulled over by the spelling police. He needs your...high school diploma. Then he's asking for an irrelevant document (oftentimes). Griffworks 01-20-2008, 09:53 AM Oh, man. That's so sad. I really liked her in the old Bob Newhart show, as well as others, such as The Birds. She even had a cameo on "Newhart" as Emily Hartley in the last episode of that series, "The Last Newhart". Her IMDb page. You were just pulled over by the spelling police. He needs your license, proof of insurance and high school diploma. I think the spelling police scan the boards for spelling errors just so they can bust someone. :p Well, this is one of those times that I'll definitely take up the side of the "Spelling Police". Names are important to me, if nobody else, and doubly so when it's someone who's passed. It's a respect thing and I always do my best to get someone's name right. PhilipMarlowe 01-20-2008, 10:11 AM I had a crush on her since I saw her in Nevada Smith on some Dialing-for-Dollars morning movie show way back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, she made a huge impression as a exotic cajun gal who helps Steve McQueen escape from prison. Always liked her on Bob Newhart too. John P 01-20-2008, 10:43 AM Oh I was so in love with her. Dammit. She was a definite babe in such films as "Wings of Fire" and George Pal's "The Power." I think the spelling police scan the boards for spelling errors just so they can bust someone. :p Actually, I think it's fairly important to get someone's NAME spelled right in their obituary post, Admral Nielsen. Zorro 01-20-2008, 10:46 AM A good actress and one very sexy lady. She had lost her husband, Tom Poston, earlier this year. Roland 01-20-2008, 10:56 AM Yeah, when she was in her prime, she was gorgeous. She had a sexy sounding voice as well. Old_McDonald 01-20-2008, 11:54 AM It's a shame, a real shame but she was a smoker all her adult life so it's not unexpected. Still , I agree she's was a great actress, one of the few who didn't build her career by getting naked like so many young actresses today. I first saw her with George Hamilton in the movie "The Power". A good sci-fi movie. Roland 01-20-2008, 12:27 PM I agree, she was an excellent actress. Smoking is a habit that's very hard to quit permanently. Mark twain once said somthing like "It's easy to quit smoking. I've done it thousands of times." I know a smoker that finally was forced to quit after he had emphysema and had to use an oxygen bottle. Admiral Nelson 01-20-2008, 12:48 PM Actually, I think it's fairly important to get someone's NAME spelled right in their obituary post, Admral Nielsen. I agre, John Pee. My appoligees. jheilman 01-20-2008, 12:51 PM Loved her in the Bob Newhart Show and the little-known James Garner western spoof "Supprt Your Local Gunfighter." That along with "Support Your Local Sheriff" are two faves from childhood, but Suzanne was only in one. Admiral Nelson 01-20-2008, 12:53 PM I know a smoker that finally was forced to quit after he had emphysema and had to use an oxygen bottle. But by that time it's too late. scotpens 01-20-2008, 03:43 PM I first saw her with George Hamilton in the movie "The Power". A good sci-fi movie.I've always thought The Power was a pretty tepid movie, more chase melodrama than science fiction, with minimal special effects that looked cheesy even 40 years ago. But Suzanne's beauty and sassy personality made it watchable. She was a hot babe back in those days. She'll be missed. Old_McDonald 01-20-2008, 04:27 PM I've always thought The Power was a pretty tepid movie, more chase melodrama than science fiction, with minimal special effects that looked cheesy even 40 years ago. But Suzanne's beauty and sassy personality made it watchable. She was a hot babe back in those days. She'll be missed. Yeah, I agree ab out the category of the movie. Very little effects and perhaps SciFi is not the correct place to put this movie. It was definitely a thriller style movie when you know someone has the power but not know who is using it to kill everyone off. The surprise ending where "2" different people had the power had that TOS "Twilight Zone" type ending. The Effects were a bit cheesy in the end but fortunately, they took up only a few minutes of the film. IMO, the merit of the movie had to do with the story as in the Twilight zone series, great stories with minimal effects.. gruffydd 01-22-2008, 07:25 PM One of the female icons of my adolescence. Smart, sharp, sexy. Farewell Suzanne. John O 01-23-2008, 02:04 PM Oh I was so in love with her. Dammit. She was a definite babe." No qualifier needed. She was a babe ...and a hard working actor, too. I also loved her as the voice of Yubaba in Spirited Away. Too me, she's like a female James Garner or Darren McGavin - what she does (did), no-one else can do like her. I'll miss her. John O.
