Things are running a little slow in this forum

The Penny Cars was the 3" series made by the Italian firm Polistil.
They made several very collectable streetcars and about 15 F1 cars in the late 60s. - early 70s.

Here are my only two Penny F1 Racers  A Ferrari and a Cooper Maserati. I would love to have all of those F1s, maybe some day........... ;)

Box makes for a nice display. They look a lot like my MARX racers..

The wheels are a bit overscale but they remind me of the Wacky races cartoons which I loved as a child - all the wheels were oversized in the cartoon. I know a guy with a bunch of these in his shop....interested Karl?

I'm on a roll at the moment:woohoo: got 4 new F1s yesterday, and are going to pick 2 more up at the postoffice tomorrow. This will bring the total up to 9 models:thumbsup: however, still 6 short of a complete set:rolleyes:

Hej Karl E - it's Karl S!

Here are two more Penny's - both Alfas (not F1) with no boxes... :(

Nice cars Karl S  I haven't got any of the streetcars - YET

For now, I'm concentrating on the F1s - still have to find 6 more to complete the set. As you can see I only go for the "all cardboard-boxes" as I don't like the ugly "window-boxes" they came in a little later.

Enjoy the "family-picture" with the newest members of my family :)

Ed Force's book, Made in Italy, lists 15 Penny F1 cars - made from 1967-1668, number 01 to 15. However, Rampini's Made in Italy book lists them as 1965-1968. Close enough! Both books say they are at 1/66 scale.

No Alfas in the Penny series but Polistil did release these in 1/55 scale in the 1980s:

The fuzzy #22 car is an Alfa Romeo 179, # RJ69 and the fuzzy #5 is a Brabham Alfa BT48, #RY66. Both of these are about 80 mm long.

These may be a little less fuzzy (but more dusty ).
