I dont mind sounding dumb sometimes. Doing some small grinding with a dremel. Getting a hand cramp. Go to grab the housing cap to relocate and grabbed the collet nut at 15,000 rpm. That will never happen again! Takes it off real quick!
Um... oops!

Sorry to hear that.
I did do something similar I guess.

"Imagine if you will an semingly innocent bench grinder. Alone on the bench, not bothering anyone. A man walks up and flips on the power switch. Grinder begins to hum its happy tune. Said man starts to sharpen a mower blade. All is well momentarilly...
Untill idiot man forgets there is another grinding stone on the opposite end of the grinder and gets a knucle against it. Suddenly the garage is filled with sounds and incomprehensible words that still echo in the night."

I mean...yeah, I've had an oops.

I drilled into my finger today. Does that count as as OOPS?
The good thing is that it was my middle finger so I can show everyone where it hurts.

One day, many years ago, I was practicing my hammer catching technique, because after all, you never know when your going to need to catch a spinning claw hammer. Anyhow, I was flipping this 16 oz. claw hammer and catching it by the handle after one revolution. Well that got boring real fast, so I started catching it after two revolutions. That kept me busy for a few minutes, and I was doing quite well, so naturally I thought it would be a good idea to try catching that baby after three full revolutions. Bad idea. You've got to toss that hammer pretty high while spinning it pretty fast in order to get it into the right position to catch it. That's why when I missed the handle, one of the claws penetrated my thumbnail just in front of the cuticle. Geez, that hurt!

I've given this some thought, and I have decided that this story doesn't really fit into the "Oops!" theme of this thread. This is more of just plain being stupid on my part.

Drilled finger....or three...And a knee.

Ground fingernails....Smells like burning hair

Die-cast snatched from hand by a drill....WHAP!!! WHAP!!!! WHAP!!!!

Potential blindness from fracturing cut-off wheels....ALWAYS wear saftey glasses. I have to just to see what I'm doing.

Wrapped up shirt tails...Depends on how quick you are as to how much skin gets took up with it.

Kleen-Strip Aircraft Remover in forementioned cuts and abrashions...I'm sure that'll come back to haunt me in my older age.

Krazy Glue on good pants...Yes it will glue them to your leg.

Those are just the ones that really stick in my mind as a "DON'T DO THAT AGAIN" thing.

I read a good one in the paper. This dude commited an armed robbery. He got the money and put the hand gun in his belt. The gun went off and the bullet went through his right testicle and into his left leg.
Ooops!
Priceless

You ain't my ex-son-in-law "Toofless" are ya? I wouldn't lend him sharp, hard or motorized tools either. :p Not because I'z afraid he'd hurt himself...That was a given....But because knowing he would, I might be held legally responsible. Unfortunately the grandson seems to be cut from the same cloth.

I did fall or was knocked off three ladders last summer. I'm lucky to still be able to move.

I heard about the thief. Laughed my butt off. Served him right. Wish he'd been a better shot and got that big artery (sp?) in his leg.

I know its not near as bad as a lot of what you guys said, but just a few weeks ago, my superglue dried over the opening to the bottle, and I decided to cut off about a centimeter of the tip with my cutter wheel. But I was too stupid to wear eye and breathing protection, and I aimed the cutter wheel at my face...breathing dried superglue and plastic as well as getting it in your eyes isn't fun...it burns like nobodys business in your eyes and throat. It sure gave me a panic, I thought I was permanently injured, and I guess that I am lucky that I wasn't.

Well this wasnt me, but i heard what happened from my teacher. I take welding/fabrication at my career center. After school there is a adult program. Apparently one of the adult students was wearing his welding gloves while grinding a piece of metal (its a big tabletop like grinder). The rest was about a inch from the grinder as well. The grinder grapped his glove and pulled his hand into it. It grinded the skin completely off a few of the fingers and went to the bone on another. So now we have a sign that says dont wear gloves.

Loose fitting garmets and high-speed rotating devices should be considered an accident looking for a place to happen.

Also no more then 1/8 inch from grinding wheel to tool rest. OSHA requirement.

Did it again tonight! The weld goes on the inside, the bondo goes on the outside! And I only had one beer. I caught it before the bondo set up... which is happening mighty fast I should add. I'm doing a dollop of resin to a teardrop of hardner and it gets hard to work with too quick. There is a reason for a big can and a small tube. Need to lighten up on the red stuff.

I have a few. Nothing to crazy tho. Yet.

While removing the roof of a Straight pipes the cut-off wheel split and sent three good sized pieces flyin, two hit the wall and one shot me in the face. I knew beforehand the wheel had a small chip in it.

Was removing a spinpost on a 65 Mustang so i could dye it. Everything went fine until i felt a stab on the side of a finger. Drilled right thru the body. It hurt for a while to.

Forget what car but i was drilling a pilot hole with a 1/32". The bit wasnt cutting so well it seemed so i pushed a little so it dug in, which it did. She bit down and snapped the bit in half.

While i was using a wire wheel to polish a base i accidentally hit the lock button instead of the speed selection. Had the Dremel set at 10,000 when i did it.

Once used a brand new Xacto blade to slice thru a plastic spinpost to avoid drilling. Took care of the spinpost but the blade decided to snap and the busted blade went right into my thumb. Didnt require 911 but it hurt like a mother for a while. My boot laces came undone you say? Yea, that was no picnic. I lost count of how many sliced fingers ive had.

This one was just the other day...

Mixed a little JB together while i was watching tv when a movie caught my eye. Mustve been watching for a good 5 minutes and realized i was mixing JB but at some point my wrist pressed against the mix. JB and hair do not play well together.

I borrowed someone's soldering iron at work today. It has a shorter grip on it than mine does. That's why I have nice new blisters between the index finger and the middle finger of my left hand.
