We ran both last Saturday. They are very close. Look at Kieth Racknor's qualifying times. It doesn't have lap times, but the TQ runs of his were crash free. His 13.5 time is faster by 2 sec or so, but his 13.5 car was a little better.
98Ron 01-16-2008, 04:31 PM Groovy, yes, here in fl we have 2 tracks that have run 13.5/4cell and 21.5 lipo.
They are Hobby world in Jax and Strickland rc park in Holly hills. I will try and get links for them with lap times.
2Groovy4U 01-16-2008, 04:47 PM Thanks guys do you know if the lipo cars weight is same as 4-cell cars?
Raymond
98Ron 01-16-2008, 05:23 PM neither of the tracks I listed above has a rule about weight defined.
I added 2 oz to my car when I went from 4 cell 13.5 to 21.5 lipo, so I could compare car setup. My car with lipo and 2 oz of lead is 41.6.
I noticed in the roar rules for 08 related to Lipo/ 6 cell, the weight is the same for both.
Andy Koback 01-16-2008, 11:41 PM If you look under "Oval Track Discussion", 2007/2008 Tri-Clone indoor season, post # 404, Lloyyd2 has the results from last Saturdays race event. All 3 heats and mains are posted there. You can compare the times from that. They were pretty close!
2Groovy4U 01-17-2008, 12:09 AM Thanks!!! Do you know how close the TQ in 13.5 and TQ in 21.5 were in skill? 1-2ths off a lap.
C43GO 01-17-2008, 01:08 AM check out midwest tri clone posts we ran both last week
the 3200 lipo is 3 oz lighter than a 4 cell 4200.
2Groovy4U 01-17-2008, 10:38 AM I know the pack is lighter than 4-cell pack. I want to know if there was any rules on weight for these classes.

Both very skilled drivers! http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/images/icons/icon10.gif The Lipo guys have only been playing with this for a few weeks now and with a little more track time, I'm sure the speeds will pic up a bunch. I see these classes to be very close. I would like to see Corey with the Lipo set-up and see what he can do.

Is there a difference in weight of each class? We are hosting a race and would like to run lipo/21.5 and 4-cell/13.5 together. But I think we might have lipo cars @ 38oz and 4-cell cars @ 40oz. What do you guys think?

We don't really have weight rules at that track
Andy Koback 01-17-2008, 04:15 PM Raymond,
I believe 21.5/Lipo and 13.5/4cell are running the same weight. (41 oz.) I've heard the guys had to add like 2 1/2 - 3 oz. to make weight. (Teamgoodwrench could clarify this.)
2Groovy4U 01-17-2008, 04:55 PM So to make the difference in laps times 1-2thenths per lap might be equaled out if lipo cars are a lower weight.
Andy Koback 01-17-2008, 07:34 PM Would help. Getting the right set-up would help alot too.
TeamGoodwrench 01-17-2008, 07:49 PM Raymond,

I've actually been running at 39 ounces (that's with weight added). But I think the car might handle a bit better with some more weight. So next time I'm going to try running at 40 oz. I'd like to get the car fast at the lower weight because the tire wear is almost nothing at 39 ounces.

post # 404 has all the lap times. Runline is around 130-135ft I think. I think on the smaller track they are pretty equal but on bigger tracks the lipo may have a "slight" advantage. Track record in 13.5 at triclone is 72/4:00 I think Jeff Fritsche ran 70/4:01 in LIPO? On the bigger track we race on though 200ft I think Jeff was less than 1 lap off of track record. while there may be advantages to one or the other they're close enough until everything gets sorted out.
2Groovy4U 01-18-2008, 12:08 PM Thanks for all your info. We have a 21.5 coming to test on a 200" banked track.
