I've decided for better or worse to take a wack at customizing. I've read over a few of the older threads for tips and I think I'm ready. Heres what I'm going to be working on:

Mostly just interested in stripping it down to bare metal to and respraying it in a different color. I'm thinking yellow or orange, but also considering flat black and trying my hand at some custom scrolling lines over the flatblack. I'm also gonna change the wheels, going to try to find some HW's wheels for it. I'll post more pictures as I go along.

Way to go Jeep Lover, a roll back hauling a modem! ( look at the photo again!). This should be a great build, glad to hear your jumping in the deep in.

I don't have this peice, so I can't offer specific help, but it does look like you will have
to fix that chassis. Is the tilt option broke on the bed allowing the fram to drop to the ground? Good luck, is you have any question, you know there are tons of guys on here that will jump in with you anytime. We're pulling (ok, a little towing humor) for you!

Nope the tilt isn't broke I took the screws out of the base so the base is dropped down. And thanks for the encouragement all!

Was reading through another thread and Cadillac Pat mentioned a paint stripper to use. Just wondering if this is the right stuff?!?>>>>

That is it. I use the same thing. When I am doing only 1 car I use a plastic butter bowl and brush the remover on with a disposable paint brush. You can see the paint raising from the cast. I use needle nose pliers to hold the casting when applying the stripper and when rinsing. Once the water hits the stripper it is neutralized.
Keep us posted.

Jeep,
That's the stuff I use.
Let me give you an idea or two after you've stripped that sucker.
Look real close at your bare casting for mold lines from the casting process.
Check out the inside edges of windows and wheelwells.
Trunk edges, hood edges, etc.
A small half round file will remove these rough spots and then you can come behind with some 220 sand paper (also available in packs at WMart paint dept) and really make a difference in your Customs.
You'll be surprised how cleaning a casting up of imperfections will add to realism once it's painted.
Body prep is the key to Mighty Fine Customizing.

Thats the stuff, just be careful with it. The first time i watched it eat the paint off my casting i didnt want to go near it. It reminded me of those movies where people get acid on them.

Well the EZ part is over...now the hard part prime, paint and clear coat :-9 Heres a look so far (these wheels are not staying on it cause the axels are too wide and the tires rub up front).

So how did this ever turn out Ryan or did you post the finished product on another thread? Where can you find the Aircraft Remover at to strip paint? Could you find it at Wally World? I'm tired of doing the dremel steel wheel to remove paint which is messy and imperfect at best. I do have two auto parts stores in town as well.

Haven't had time to finish the rollback yet. In fact I'm going to try to enlist Jeff Fleetwood for some help on it when I he gets some time I'm not a very good painter lol. Yeah the Aircraft Remover can be found at Wally World, 'some' of them even have it on sale for 5 dollars a can now in the clerance aisle.

Crafty,
You can purchase KleanStrip AirCraft Remover at WalMart in the Paint Dept. or at AutoZone.

So I met up with Jeff Fleetwood today, we did some trading and he set me up with a truly one of a kind killer paint job on my Rollback! Its the badest rollback on the shelf! Jeff's work is just exceptional.

The rollback now has a nice interior that it lacked before, a detailed grill and brake lights, new caution lights on top and custom wheels with dullies on the back.

Heres the rollback helping along a troubled Goat.
