Hi Guys Newbie here! :)

I found a 1999 AP Monte Carlo Elite.
It’s Red on the bottom half and roof is black.
Has #1 on it with ACTION or rear quarters.
Has sponsor stickers like Winner Circle…Revell….Action Racing Collectables and the like.
Designated 1 of 800.

Can’t find any info on it anywhere!

I’m sending along a photo of it.
Maybe it’ll help in identifying it?
Lemme know if the link works or how to get pic to pop up here.

Jim

i've been a member of rcca since 1996. around 1998 to 2000 they tried an online club, if you wanted to participate. members were automatically joined, and people could just join the online club. i don't remember if it was goracing.com, or selectnet.com

but i think what you have is a promotional car that was put out only on the online site. i specifically remember the bases of those cars were different colors, mostly gray, and also because of lower cost, they weren't metal, but plastic. i didn't participate in the online club. it was a pain. but remember seeing this car.

it would be pretty neat to own. congrats! when i joined rcca, i just got a 1/64 scale car with some similarities to the one you have here with the decals.

oddly enough, back then, 800 was considered to be a very low quantity of any item put out in nascar. now, unless it's a really popular driver, 800 is an extremely large quantity. i have no idea of it's value. but, since it has no driver associated with it, i wonder what that does to people wanting it.
it may have also been an employee thing, or sent to chevy dealers type deal. i remember seeing it, but thinking, it wasn't worth the "elite' car price.

Looks to be VERY RARE can't find one on a Google search or Evil Bay!
I bought in a 9 Car Lot of Gordon cars off EB recently.
If there were only 800 made it's gotta be worth a few bucks??

actually, it's value is hard to say. the reason you can't find it, may be because it doesn't sell. i tried to sell my 1/64 i got from 1996 not long ago, and got no buyers. i finally gave it away after i couldn't even get a couple bucks for it..

personally, as i said, it would be a neat item to have as NASCAR was at it's height over those years. but having been someone who spent literraly thousands on diecast back then, i personally wouldn't purchase it now, with the market what it is. why wouldn't i purchase it, because with that many produced, these days, that is alot of cars, for a promo car like that. if they were pulling money, people would come out of the wood work with them on epay. i've seen that before.

others may not agree. personally, if it was mine, i'd think i had something neat, but from my experience trying to sell my cars from those years, actually all the years i collected, would say it's not worth much at all, except to you..

You might be right Kwik.

The only other thing me and a friend of mine figure is....
It was a Promotional for the FIRST viewing of the Elite series.
#1 would signify Action as #1 in NASCAR diecast and the sponsors are all PPL they now own or are part owner of.

It would probably only be worth a lot to a true diehard Action collector.
Rare HTF cars are just plain kewl to have so it's worth it to me.

Here is what I was able to find out about your item.

It's a 98' or a 99' Action Promo car, that was given to people at the dealers meetings

Where did ya get the info?
Anything else about it?
I take it that this is super rare?
I don't see it listed anywhere.
I've even contacted Racingusa.com....Pyramid Racing....My local shop....all people that have delt with thousands of these cars over the years.
Nobody knew anything about it or seen it before.

Hi everyone - new member to the forum. As stated - that car is a "Promo". Does anyone remember the SpeedMall launch? I have the same piece in my collection. I won mine from the speedmall when they had a promo going - Every order qualified you for a scratch ticket.

The car discussed in this thread IS the Speedmall promo and I doubt it was a "dealer only" piece. Many times during Dealer meetings Action was known for giving away
"extra" cars. Beats spending money on "new" gifts for dealers.

WOW what a giveaway!
Nobody gives away anything this nice they manufacture anymore.
This thing is a Elite all the way!!
Well for 1999....not quite as nice as today's Elites.
Just the same it's quality all the way.
