With the Hensley's 13.5 challenge nearly history, it's time to start thinking about some oval track action on the West side of the great State of Missouri.

Fastlane Raceway, sponsor of the Fastlane Raceway 10.5 Pro Mod class in this year's BRL series, will be hosting the 4th annual Midwest Oval Grand Nationals on February 9th and 10th, 2008.

The newly renovated (actually still being renovated) Fastlane track features a run line of approximately 170 feet with a 24 foot wide infield. Pit space for over 70 racers is provided next to the track with additional pit space in an attached second building.

Winners of the brushless classes (17.5, 13.5, 10.5) at the Midwest Oval Grand Nationals will receive a paid entry into the BRL finals held at Hobbyplex in Omaha, NE on April 4th - 6th, 2008. Many of the top BRL racers are expected to compete at the event including BRL series promoter, Sonny Brown.

Watch this thread for updates and additional information beginning on Monday, January 14th. Entry form is attached.

I'm adding a roll call here. I'll update names as I receive entries or people post on this thread. If you told us verbally at Hensleys that you were coming, please confirm with a post here as well. It will help keep the thread active. Let us know your transponder number by PM or post so we can get as much entered into the computer in advance as possibe. I'll update this list daily so if you've sent in your entry and don't see your name here, I'll get it added as we receive the mail.

Chuck do you have any hotel info? what is the earlybird reg. discount?

BIGCHUCK

We're working on getting a racer's rate at one local hotel. Should have info next week. But there are several hotels in Blue Springs (suburb of KC where the track is located) including Hampton Inn, Motel 6, Days Inn, America's Best Value Inn & Suites, Quality Inn, etc. Rates for these normally run from $50 a night to $99 a night.

Early registration setup right now is $20 for first class up to January 18th; after that it's $25. Second class is $15.

We've had some questions regarding the rules for the Losi Slider class. So here is a more complete set of the rules we use at Fastlane:

- Losi Slider RTR or converted Mini-T using unmodified Losi parts unless specifically allowed in the following rules.
- Tires: Stock Losi Mini Slider Tires. CA Glue may be applied to sidewall / tread. Front tire: PN LOSB1156 or wheel & tire PN LOSB1173
Rear tire: PN LOSB1170 or wheel & tire PN LOSB1182
- Batteries: 6 cell NiMH only; maximum rating of 1400 mAhr
- Motors: Stock Losi RX-280 sized motor (PN LOSB1216). Brushes & springs may be replaced.
- Suspension Springs: Stock springs may be replaced with optional Losi springs for Mini-T or Mini Slider. The listed springs may be used at any wheel location.
Front Spring set: PN LOSB1117
Rear Spring set: PN LOSB1119
- Shocks: May be replaced with Losi optional aluminum shock kit (PN LOSB1110). Shock oil may be replaced. External spring spacers and / or internal travel limiters allowed.
- Differential: Stock differential may be replaced with Losi ball diff (PN LOSB1125)
- Turnbuckles: May be upgraded with Losi titanium turnbuckle kit (PN LOSB1230) or equivalent. Heavy duty ball cups may be substituted for stock.
- Electronics: Stock receiver, ESC and servo must be used. Any compatible radio may be used.
- The pinion gear may be replaced to alter the gear ratio. Optional Losi spurs are allowed.
- Stock body and wing panels must be used but custom painted Losi clear body panels can be substituted for stock.
- Fasteners may be replaced with alternates of same size.

I hope this helps to answer any questions on the Slider rules. The overall guiding principle is to create a fun, relatively low cost class where someone can be competitive without making a bunch of car modifications or spending a load of cash.

Less than 4 weeks to go. Looking forward to seeing a great group of racers and having a good time.

More info will be posted later this week. Stay tuned.

Not gonna make Ft. Wayne, its my wife's birthday that weekend. Last year I was sick with the flu so I've got to stay home to make it up to her (especially since I'm heading to the Birds the following Tuesday). Good Luck though, and we'll see you in our neck of the woods when we get back.

Signed an agreement this morning with the Quality Inn-Blue Springs (701 NW South Outer Rd, Blue Springs, 64015; 816-220-7400). Rate for double room (2 queen beds, 2 occupants) will be $54.99 a night. Includes deluxe continental breakfast. Mention you're with the Fastlane group. They will hold 20 rooms through January 26th. After that, they won't guarantee availability. This hotel is at the intersection of I-70 and Highway 7 in Blue Springs.

Other hotel choices in Blue Springs include Motel 6, Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Days Inn, Super 8 (seems to be undergoing a name change) and American Inn. I picked the Quality Inn as having the best value for a double room with 2 queen beds. Some of our racers might spill over the sides of just a full size bed and the thought of 2 of our racers in a room with one bed makes me cringe..... :freak:

Something Pops missed, if you want add your transponder number it would be appreciated too. That way we can get people entered into the computer in advance and have minimal downtime during practice.
If you guard it like your social security number, we'll get you when you arrive (or since I actually read his edit, you can PM BIGCHUCK with it) :)

Checked with the hotel this morning. They said as long as you mention you're with the Fastlane Raceway group, they will honor the rate. They apologized for any confusion or problems that might have been created. Jason, I'd give them a call and straighten it our before you arrive.

They've extended the cutoff for holding the block of rooms until the 28th. After that, they won't guarantee that rooms will be available but they will honor the rate if they have rooms.

Right around 30 entries registered at this point. And I know some guys who are coming who haven't indicated it on this roll call (that's a hint there PhilB). Should be 40 or more for the race.

See ya in 2 weeks.
