does it ever make you wonder what one single person could possibly want with so many of the same chase car??? you see those certain names that make it a point to run up the bids to ridiculous amounts on certain chase cars and even manage to win 90% of every single one that comes across ebay.

this particular ebayer seems to do it very often which just made me stop and wonder what they could possibly want with so many of the same chase car. most of these aren't $20 whites or greens but high end stuff that goes in the $50 to $100 range if not much more. this is not a complaint because i could have had this car at it's cheapest ebay price of $75 BIN but i passed. it just made me wonder why this person seems to make it a point to win every single one that comes across the bay along with many other multiples of the same chase cars.

With only so many made, maybe they think if they can take a bunch of them out of the market it will drive the price way up when they show up again later.
Maybe?

yeah its old.and stupid.
i would imagine they think that having so many would monpolize the price later down the road.
collecting is great.
running up against rich people on ebay that keep winning the same things over and over.sucks.
i had this probably acouple years ago when i wanted a real riders series corvette.same guy kept winning them over and over.

If you follow that buyer's other auctions, you will see that it isn't just Green Machines he bids on (hoards?) - its practically everything in the high end diecast lines. Kudos for him if he can do that; I certainly hope some day I'm in that league. What I can't help but wonder is if you have that kind of spare cash, why not go buy something really amazing, like mint 1:1 '67 Shelby GT. I'd bet that would look a lot more impressive in a garage than a stack of boxed diecast!

It is nice to collect some stuff, but this guy is wasting money on too much junk!
I just sit back and laugh at how much he spends on this. Tens of thousands of dollars this guy spends with ease!

yes, it seems like he goes after anything he can and every single one that comes up at that. i just can't believe how much this guy spends on multiples of the same high end chase cars alone let alone the variety of different cars. i am lucky enough to get one or two different higher end chase pieces let alone multiples of the same cars. kudos to him for having the money but it seems like money well wasted unless he plans at selling them at a higher amount later on if he really is trying to control the market on them.

this a very good point. if you even spend a little amount of time on ebay you will see what this guy has spent on these cars. i would much rather have a rare or even just a nice 1:1 car sitting in the garage rather than having 5 each of the same $100 chase cars piled up all over the place.

to each his own i guess. i look at what i have spent over the years on diecast in general and that money would have gotten me a nice 1:1 toy. i've debated about backing off on my diecast spending to buy another WS.6 but it is too darn hard to quit the hobby especially with the really nice stuff that has been coming out over the years. i at least try to limit myself to one each of anything expensive.

I did a search on this guy's ID earlier today, he bid on almost 1,000 items in the last 30 days and won over 300 of them I believe. I wonder if he does this for a living because it has to be more than a hobby to be that dedicated to ebaying.

The only rational reason for buying so many is he is in a GTA club and he's getting them for all his friends. That's not too likely to be true. :D

I'd LOVE to have one of these GM GTA's rite now but I'll wait till it comes down in price.
GreenLight is useing this casting also in MCG R6 as a stock and also a custom version as well in the Black Bandit series so there'll be plenty of this casting GM to go around.
Plus I got the one with flames on preorder and eventully the larger scale is comming out.

Man, I just realized this is going to be an expensive year.

We are all different kinds of collectors. I am the point now where I see no sense in buying the same casting in a different color. HW fans seem the strangest to me buying the whole spectra of colors avaiable of a casting. So this guy to me does not seem any stranger than other collectors.

Good Luck with that one. David is a pretty nice guy and has bought stuff from me before. The fact that he's a "trust fund baby" and has EXTENSIVE deep pockets is besides the point. Since I don't try to buy GM's when they are really new, I rarely am in a position to lose an auction to him.

you stated your opinion and that is that you don't think we have the right to discuss the topic. that is fine but the discussion will go on without you regardless of how you feel about it. i see no further need for you to post anything as you are against the topic we are discussing. the only reason you would keep posting is to start a flame war. it is that simple. this isn't what i want this thread to turn into although you seem to be trying to start the fire.

this thread was not started to bag on the guy for his collecting habits. don't let a few persons opinions lead to that thought. if this guy was a "buy one week & sell a week later for a large profit kind of guy" than i would understand your assumption but this guy is not or at least doesn't appear to be that way as i have rarely ever seen him sell much of anything compared to the amount he buys.

this thread was started for the sole reason i stated in the original post. perhaps this could have sparked him to respond or get a response from someone that personally knows the guy as to what he wants with so many of the same high end chase cars. when greg was snagging up all of the buick t-type white lightnings from the musclecars box set, i wondered why he was going after so many. it turned out that he put together a very cool 10 pack of all white lightnings of that car. it was something that was pretty neat and something you never had seen before. perhaps this discussion could lean us to learn what the guy is doing. he might not be a social person to come here and show us his project or collection or he just might not visit the board himself regularly. i was just curious what he does with them. i certainly didn't expect to have a select few come in and turn this thread into a whining session.

as for me slamming a guy for his opinion, please show me where anyone did that???? i must have missed it. what i did slam him for is the simple fact that he posted his opinion and couldn't let it be. he felt the need to complain that his opinion was not welcome when nobody here said that which in return was an attempt to start an argument.

i thought this thread started off pretty good until someone had to whine about the topic being none of our business which ironically is none of his business. can we please get back on the topic and refrain ourselves from any further negative comments?

Did you ever stop to think that the guy may have kids or grandkids that he's putting sets together for? And really... Does it matter how much he spends on the cars? It's no different than someone walking into Walmart and walking out with a dozen Treasure hunts. it's their money they are spending.. not yours. So instead of whining and crying about what he's bidding and how much he's buying, take that wallet out and out bid him or S.T.F.U.!

wrong! i had nothing to complain about until some crybaby chimed in that his opinion wasn't welcome. ;)

Did you ever stop to think that the guy may have kids or grandkids that he's putting sets together for?
now if you would have provided that input at the very beginning, you would have actually offered something positive to this thread instead of turning it into your personal bitching session about who's business is what.

And really... Does it matter how much he spends on the cars? It's no different than someone walking into Walmart and walking out with a dozen Treasure hunts.
the last time i checked, treasure hunts at walmart cost $0.97 not in excess of $100 which is what this guy is spending on one single car. ;)

it's their money they are spending.. not yours. So instead of whining and crying about what he's bidding and how much he's buying, take that wallet out and out bid him or S.T.F.U.!
this is where you need to pull your head out of your rear end and actually read everything i posted instead of scanning the thread and picking up on what "other" people have posted! i never complained about having to outbid the guy did i????? in fact, i stated i could have had this car at its cheapest selling price of $75 if i really wanted it. in fact, i didn't complain about anything at all. there have already been threads in the past of people complaining this guy running up the bids on everything. the topic has been discussed multiple times so i see no need to bring it to this thread as everyone had already expressed their displeasure on that topic.

it is obvious you are only here to piss and moan about anything you can or even make up stuff to keep your rant going. keep your nose out of this thread and S.U. already! i asked nicely but you can't seem to get the hint!
