I am looking at getting into brushless and was wondering about pod size. I have a rc10l3 and know that fitting a standard motor in is hard what about the brushless motors? Is it better to get say a silva pod for the car? are there any pods that allow it to be easier to get the motor in and out? Just trying to research before i get the setup in the car.

L3 and the L4 pods are the same. No problem. Just unbolt the top plate and drop in the motor. My Velodrome car is an L3 with 10.5 brushles/Lipo.
let me try to post a picture for you

like third said, it will fit. but if you really wanted to, you can get extended motor pod plates from lefthander rc (on the right side of the page). they come from IRS RC. it will allow for a bigger pinion and spur

IS there anyone that has some more pics of a brushless in an L4? I mounted mine and sits kinda like thirdplace does but it is so close to that shock.

MY 10L3 uses a R3design X2 pod plate and extended IRS hubs. It allows for a little more gear than normal. It addes the darkside rear steer option too.

It does mount a Q2 speedo well on the extra battery space, but for brushless speedos, you have to make them fit as they are a little bigger and have more wires poking everywhere. But it may hold a receiver pack or some lead weight with some extra tape. On other cars besides the 10L3 getting a brushless to fit should not be as much of a problem.

I also run a L3 pod with the 10.5/lipo combo with Thirdplace (can't remember the last time that happened though) with no problem. We run them at the Encino velodrome in CA. I think one of the pods with the most room is the Hyperdrive pro2. I have one on my 1/12th scale car and it is awesome.

With a little work, you can get a brushless into just about any pod, I even use it in my old HPI ovalcar (old style Associated type pod).
