View Full Version : New racing rule at Glen Burnie
TBRC1 01-08-2008, 08:40 PM This is a note to let ALL OVAL racers that have raced at or want to race at THE RACE HAUS in Glen Burnie MD. As of last sunday the race director and the racers that were there talked and decided on this.
In the event that there are 6 or more cars in any one class, the mains will be 4 in an A and 2 in a B. As the numbers go up the number will grow in the B till there are 5 cars. If it get's to the need for a C main things will be decided on by vote. This was tried last sunday and the A 4 cell stock had 4 and there was a 2 car B. The racing was just as fun for all and there were only 2 or 3 accidents in the A. Two being the wall jumping in front of me. The other was when the leaders motor got to hot and fell off faster than I expected and I regretfully got in to him.
This is to hopefully avoid any other car/marshall accidents.
Keep in mind folks at the Race Haus the racers ARE listened to for input. I'm not knocking any other tracks JUST stating a fact. This is how the Dodges and the racers work things here. If there is something that needs attention it get's it!
JH Racing 01-12-2008, 03:38 AM Man that's a BS Rule.
abdule 01-12-2008, 03:10 PM that's what happens when the cars are to fast for the track. 17.5 should be the motor used at that track...............the 17.5 is about as close to stock as you can get.........I bought one and ran it at Marshall's........only difference is that it doesn't drop off..........
JH Racing 01-12-2008, 09:16 PM Abdule that is a great idea 17.5 would be great for GB .
TBRC3 01-12-2008, 10:53 PM first off when the classes were made we didnt know anything about the 17.5 motor so that means we decided on the 13.5 motor. 2 now that we have made the classes we are not going to change it in mid season. and 3 we could have left it all stock like it use to be but we wanted to bring the new stuff in at gb as well. last but not least now that its mid season and classes were made we deal with it work with it change it or whatever we have to do to make it work for the racer and everyone else involved
abdule 01-12-2008, 10:54 PM let's see how many people are paying attention :woohoo:
TBRC1 01-13-2008, 02:24 AM I see it this way ...we keep the 13.5 class and the new rule. The new rule is to try and avoid any other racers leaving with a pile of parts that was once a car. If some out there think it's a B/S or stupid rule. Thats their opinion and the beauty of living in this country where we can say what we think.
Now if anyone wants to come and run the 17.5 motors come on down. I personaly would love to see what the speed is like as well as what the lap counts would be between 17.5 and brushed stock. Now keep in mind the 17.5 class would be more of a fun/exhibition class.
I agree with 3 since when the classes were set 13.5 had all the looks of being the BIG class at the time. Then the manufacturers zapped us with the 17.5 motors (or so it seemed) thus making a new fast growing class. Keep in mind we did offer a poll for racers to vote about the classes. Regretfully not many out there voted for certain classes. Thus we did the best we could with the info we had of the classes at the time.
I may not post as much as others but I do keep an eye on things (paying attention)
abdule 01-14-2008, 07:02 AM What ever you say 13.5 is to fast for GB, I hear sub 3 sec. lap times.
TBRC1 01-14-2008, 07:38 PM Unless I remember wrong has'nt brushed stock gotten down to 2.9 at times in the first half of a run ????? I mean right now with the "regulars" at GB the difference between brushed and BL is 2 or 3 laps. Whereas when the fast guys come to race the seperation in laps jumps up.
Ask the guys in Jersey at On Traxx racing on the bull ring about to fast. That place is a bit smaller than GB and they run 13.5. Heck the two times I was ther running 4 cell brushed stock it felt more like 6 cell 19 turn. To date I have yet to read or hear of any complaints about speeds there.
In closing think of it this way if racers find something wrong about a track to pick on, they can't complain when there is NO where to race oval. I feel it's more on the side of be glad and feel lucky to have a place to race oval and go with the flow. That's what was done at RCO with thier early no traction compound rule. We adapted and raced and we were glad to have the chance to race there.
DON'T COMPLAIN JUST RACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
abdule 01-14-2008, 09:03 PM Have fun...........................
Goodwrench29 01-14-2008, 09:12 PM What's up fellas, Toby I just wanted to give you an update. The new track record at the Trax70 bullring for 13.5 is held by James Cranmer with a 134 in 6:01 with a wreck and the fastest single lap is held by Steve Nye with a 2.613. The racing has never been better......I LOVE BRUSHLESS!!:woohoo:
TBRC3 01-14-2008, 10:52 PM from what i see in the mains for 13.5 the best we have here is a 2.715 and 83 laps at 401 held by phil marabella. doing this while running glen burnie for the first time.I will say this we can only pull up the mains ran at glen burnie so it could be some faster laps and higher lap count.
Toby your right in stock we been pulling off 2.9 and mike green last year hit a 2.8 lap. also you know this year i have pulled a 2.9 lap a few times and i'm the slow guy.
gindlmi 01-14-2008, 11:07 PM maybe all you guys are too fast for Glen Burnie. LOL
TBRC3 01-14-2008, 11:18 PM mike i'm just getting lucky this year last year think i couldnt do but a 3.5 lap lol
gindlmi 01-14-2008, 11:29 PM I guess since toby wont be there this weekend I may have to run stock with you in adddition to 13.5
smoke 01-15-2008, 02:27 PM Don't worry I'll move up if you fill up my rear view mirror gindlmi
gindlmi 01-15-2008, 04:49 PM come on now, you are the driver with the current longest winning streak in stock at Glen Burnie
It Will Suck Not Being Able To Watch 6+ Cars Battling Bt What Ever Makes People Happy Is Fine By Me
smoke 01-15-2008, 10:27 PM Now at biggerr races I could definately see 6 cars in a main because you hopefully start getting similar abillity drivers grouped up. However when there are 6-7 guys in the house and the difference between pole and last qualifier is 7-8 laps the slower guys just can't get out of the way fast enough. and its no fun for any one. My .02
Fireball929 01-15-2008, 11:19 PM At our track in upstate NY we run 17.5 and record is set at 96 5.02 track length is about 87 ft. Stock is set at 95 5.03. 17.5 is a great class. All the pro stock drivers all switched to 17.5 and all have went faster. just my experience as a racer and announcer.
We also run 5 on a weekly basis in all mains and 6 in the A mains for a trophy race.
pusher 01-16-2008, 12:58 PM All.....I just posted on the other GB thread......It is a little long but it is my reply to what we are attempting to do. Please take the time to read it when you get a chance.
