Sounds crazy doesn't it???

I have never really cared for the rear wheel and tire combination on the Tuff Ones cars or the new AW cars. The wheels and tires were just too wide to look like anything on the road. Even the AFX wheels looked more to scale when you put them on a t-jet.

I was looking at a brand new AW car and realized the front wheels and tires were wider than those in the previous releases. It occurred to me that I could move the front wheels and tires to the rear of the car and make a pretty decent looking wider rear wheel and tire combination for no extra cost. I had other skinny front wheels left over from other AW projects. In the end I have a Nova that looks a lot like the Novas I remember when I was 16. Okay I am old.

RRR makes sets of 4 rims with tires for $3.50 with the look you are seeking. They look real nice also...will take some pics and post them here soon.

Don't get me wrong your idea is great as Free is good also. :)

I have the RRR rims. I added them to some of my other AW cars. That is what freed up the other front wheels and tires for this car.

I am just glad that AW went with chrome wheels. I love the Tomy G+ cars but just can not understand the black wheels.

old blue,

Wow! That was a quick response...well I did race this Nova a little before coming back. Yeah baby!

Sold my 1/1 70 Nova a couple of years ago. It was turning into a real "Money Pit" fast.

This little T-Jet Nova looks great, low cost, no insurance, no gas and aftermarket products are dirt cheap.

Yeah I hear you on the Tomy rim deal but, just glad that Tomy keeps making them. It won't be long before someone puts some Aluminum rims on one of these new Tomy GT40s!!

I bought a case of green camaro's way back when. I took a few and replaced the wheels with original T Jet aurora axles and skinny wheels. I sanded down the posts on the bodies as low as possible and put petrified old aurora rubber on the front and skinny silicones on the rear. Not only did they look better in my eyes, but they ran great. TomH

One thing I discovered, the silicone tires for Tuff Ones rear wheels will fit on those RRR rear wheels to give you a bigger tire on that wheel. It gives you a little better traction and fills the wheel well a little better if you need it to.

Don't get me wrong, the RRR tires are pretty good for not being silicone.

I have also swapped out some of the front tires on the RRR wheels to get the chasis a little lower. I had some TCR cars with very thin front tires that fit very well.
