Hi everyone. I made this for my wife and gave it to her for Christmas. When she opened the box, her reaction was just as I expected it would be - I got the old, "Ooooh Yeahhhh", which translates to, "What am I supposed to do with this?" Since she really isn't into homemade gifts, but since I'm broke, there really isn't anything I can do for her. She'll just have to take this and like it by golly!
Anyhow, since I don't have any recent customs to share with you all, I thought I thought I'd show you this. it's made from some 1" square tubing wedges that I that I found in one of our dumpsters I welded them into a turbine-like cylinder, drilled and tapped the ends, buffed the heck out of it, then added a grease fitting to the bottom and a broken 90 degree elbow tube connector. I soldered a piece of copper wire into the opening of the tube connector and made a hook for it out of some shaped 316SS wire. It doesn't matter if my wife likes it because I do. I took it back from her because she was unimpressed.

Can't understand it!!!!

I guess that's the problem. No one seems to get what I do, which is probably one reason why I get booted out of the shows I enter every year. That's all right, I'll just keep pluggin' away at it.

Zeb - if it is any comfort, I love your stuff. In particular the Matchbox Honda Element Toaster......

You rock brother.....

I hope she realized that it was the thought that counts..............

PS - the custom Monopoly piece was stellar as well as the ring.....

You're too kind Dip. Actually my wife and I had a good laugh over that thing today. She and I obviously see the world a little differently. It looks good hanging on a Christmas tree though.
That toaster was a blast to make, and as soon as I find another Element I am going to build another one for lpgeoteacher.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I don't mean to sound like a whiner here. I'm not complaining; I actually find it humorous.

You are an Artiste' Ron, to think that a "gift" made from an idea and the time put into its creation is not still a gift is untrue, I applaud your insight & ability to be unique man..Alls I gave my wife was a card, a hug, a kiss, and an I Love You.

"It is the thought that counts"..Holidays/Christmas is too commercial these days, we should all be greatful just to BE, and not feel like we have to impress those we truly love with material things.

Thanks Jeff. You know, I didn't expect my wife to be blown away by the object I gave her, I just wanted her to know that I thought enough about her to use my mind and my hands to do something for her. She does appreciate what I did; she's just funny about how she shows it.
Hey, as long as you giving Karen hugs, would you give her one for me and tell her Merry Christmas? Thanks my friend. Take care. I hope to see you both at AutoFest this year.
