R1 is sensorless and RS is sensored...

ok so if the r1 is sensorless and the rs is sensor u can only run that type of motor on that esc? there is not competition esc like the r1 or rs that allows you to run either the sensor or sensorless motors in 1 esc and another question i was on horizon hobbies there were 2 r1 esc 1 was 229 the other was 329 the one for 329 said mod 290 or something what is the difference there between the 2 esc's?

RS ...........will work with 4 cell 10.5 13.5 and all other novak motors!

the R1 works with tekin motors and low turn "mod" type brushless motors

according to the flyer that Scooter sent out , it says release date is in april 2008.

the hotwire is a great tool. if you get a speedo you'll want one. it allows you to easily set up the speedo and if Tekin makes any changes to the software you can update your unit. this is a great function because other brands the only way to update your speedo is to send it back.

got my RS speedo and hotwire last week. i was just playing around with it on the computer.... that is one trick piece of equipment. tekin definitely stepped it up this time.

It is a great unit.

ran the rs tooday in 10.5 oval. wow very awesome needed a little different rollout then the LRP but performed awesome. very some speedo and it launched great!!!

Used thr Rs for the first time last nite.... Nice and smooth... Like Dave say's little diff. rollout. Nice software to go along with. JM

4 to 5 teeth, that's not a small amount is it?, does the rs have a punch controll setting or timing, is the diference the amount of timing the speed control puts in the equasion? Just wondering how you get to the 4-5 teeth, motor temp or lap times and if its lap times is the motor cooler or not?

no the RS doesn't a punch setti ng like the LRP. it has throttle profile settings. yes the RS does have the ability to change timing. as for laptimes I was running some pretty good times. IMO the speedo is awesome. my car needed work. as for motor temp she ran right around 150- 160 all day long and the speedo which also has a on board temp sensor showed 2 lights

Last Friday I ran back to back with the Novak (first run) and the RS Pro (second run) in 10.5 at 2.92 rollout on a 150' slightly banked ozite oval (St-Rock).

I didn't change any setting on the car and the car was identical lap time wise ... it was actually .03 to .05/lap faster with RS Pro, but I put that on the tires that came in better (second run on them).

That was with full timing on the motor and RS Pro (timing set at 100, version 1.80) ... also "sensored only" mode enabled.

Temp on motor run 1 (Novak) ... 150F
Temp on motor run 2 (RS Pro ... temp=1 led) ... 148F

thanks, Steve more like the factual info I was looking for, not whether the speedo was awesome, ofcourse its awesome.didn't really think the 5 or 6 teeth could be very accurate.

last time I ran at my track Hobby World in Jacksonville I ran a 3.52 RO with a LRP speedo and ran the same lap times

this time with the RS I had my best run with a 3.77 RO. I tried the 3.50 ish RO in practice and I was 2 tenths off.


Here is some FACTUAL info for yah If you run a novak then you need to gear 2-3 teeth higher than you would with a LRP which would explain why Steve geared the same.

Steve was also 8 points higher on the timing than I was.

The RS does have a current limitor which is a punch control.

The difference in gearing is due to timing. Like always there are different paths to the same the end result. Super high timing is really bad effeciency and hard on things in general, but does produce more rpm. We will provide all the adjustability you want to take either path. Fortunately our system is software upgradeable as we learn. We prefer less timing and more gear, but we realize this is getting difficult to achieve in many setups.

can some one please take a few minutes and explain the advanced settings through the hot wire just maybe a brief discription of what does what or if you advance this setting the car will do this or if you retard this setting the car will do this i have tried to contact one of the people on this post that i thought was sponsored by tekin but have got no response any help with this would be great.....

doughboy no worries throttle profile 5 timing 100 set the voltage cut off for your lipo set the breaks to 100 no reverse leave the little box on the right blank the push control is for brushed only


these settings give you max punch if you lower the timing you'll need to gear up.

what can i say other than the tekin RS is greatest speed control i have ever ran. i finally got to put a full day of racing on it and it is awsome. last weekend at the fcc race i started the day with an lrp and it was ok but it kept shutting down which is nothing new for lrp so i ran my tekin and the car had plenty of rip and i turned my fastest lap time of the weekend with my new TEKIN RS.......

Anyone running The RS 17.5 Lipo Yet? I will be running this class this year, Where do I start rollout on a 170' flat track?
