Our local Wal-Mart never even got any of those in but the 40 Ford, the Merdury and the Magnum. They are all still on the pegs and still $2.47 a piece...

Wal-mart stores have a pretty free reign as far as discounting, where some stores all mark everything down the same across the chain, each Wal-mart can more or less do their own thing. Just as an example a comforter I wanted to buy but I figured they'd mark down sooner or later... was $45 for over a year in every store I looked in.. then some stores started marking down one color... which I saw marked down to $38... $25.. and finally in one store, $17. Some stores still have it for the original price. And we're talking stores within 150 miles of each other in the same part of the state.

The stores doing the heaviest markdowns are those that do not believe they are going to be getting a bonus check this year.. so they are cutting thier losses in the current year. Those stores that think they are in the running for a bonus check will wait until after Feb.1st to do their markdowns as that is the start of a new fiscal year.
