Racin Steve 01-17-2008, 09:28 AM got my tq cells.. they look great ! have not had chance to try them yet.. hope to do some testing on friday. want to ask a question about the 4600's.. i have a battery doctor to tray my packs... when i tray the packs i have the leads to my gfx on the pack while it is being trayed. i monitor the volts thru the traying process.. i need to know should i stop the traying at 4 volts or wait until all the lights go out on the tray? i usually have 2 or more lights out at 4 volts but was not sure if all of the lights needed to be out for the pack to be equalized. That tray will discharge the cells at a low rate and take them well below 1V. I don't use it for that reason. The problem is the amount of time the cells will stay below 1V. Example: 0-30 will take the cells below 1V, but it's a high rate discharge and the cells will only be below 1V for a few seconds which won't harm the cells. Kept under 1V for too long, a cell might permanently lose runtime capacity thus changing its whole characteristics (charge time, etc) you then get this particular cell out of match versus the other cells in that pack. That can lead to overcharged cells and possible worst issues. Steve. JDW 01-18-2008, 01:48 AM IB 4600s were bangin tonight at the ole club race, thanks Jason. Jake Racin Steve 01-18-2008, 10:29 AM IB 4600s were bangin tonight at the ole club race, thanks Jason. Jake  Steve. tfrahm 01-18-2008, 10:58 AM What about the Novak tray? Outlaw 44 01-18-2008, 02:02 PM If you can set the discharge cutoff at 1.0V, no lower, you're fine. dyno-dylan 01-18-2008, 04:37 PM Steve, I got my packs today. I wanted to thank you for the quick service and I cant wait to run them. Thanks Dylan Saturno Racin Steve 01-18-2008, 05:49 PM What about the Novak tray? It's fine. The battery doctor has a cutoff of approx. .5V which is well below 1V. At 0.9V the smart tray is ok. If the cell's voltage bump back up over 1V once the load is taken off it'll be fine. Steve. Racin Steve 01-20-2008, 09:56 PM I'm putting the final touch on a batch of EnerG4600 cells ... Cells will be matched and ready to ship as of this wednesday. Steve. TQ Cells took second in the A main this weekend in 17.5 at Barre's New Year's Bash, 4200's, dead-shorted, non deadshorted, it didn't matter the packs were good! Racin Steve 01-21-2008, 08:54 PM So we can compair apples to apples...Do they have similar numbers to the IB 4600??? Yes. The average EnerG4600 cells has approx. 10 seconds less runtime than the average IB4600 cells I did 2 weeks ago. Other than that they're identical. Steve. Hi Jason, I did a batch in January for the birds. I'm getting another batch in 2 weeks or so. Steve. glgraphix 02-25-2008, 04:35 PM Steve, great pitting beside you at the Freeze. Thanks for the support, and the friendship. You answered a lot of my questions that I had. Hope you had a good trip home. Congrats on the 3rd place finish in Nitro LM, A-main. Kevin Racin Steve 02-26-2008, 09:29 AM Steve, great pitting beside you at the Freeze. Thanks for the support, and the friendship. You answered a lot of my questions that I had. Hope you had a good trip home. Congrats on the 3rd place finish in Nitro LM, A-main. Kevin Thanks, the drive back home was flawless. I had a super time as well! Steve. Racin Steve 02-29-2008, 11:11 AM EnerG4600 cells are on order ... I've been monitoring IB4600 and EnerG4600 reliability since Jan. and the EnerG4600 is holding up better than IB4600. Both are way better than what we've seen in the past but the EnerG4600 is the winner here ... doesn't self discharge as quick and numbers stay stronger ... BTW, if any are looking for the best current lipo packs ... SMC 28C/5000 (2S2P) you can get these here at TQ Cells ... just drop me an e-mail ... I beleive it is important that I state my point of view re: Lipos ... it happens to be exactly what Danny Sullivan at SMC thinks too ... here it is ... Danny (SMC): "I have been against using Lipos in high end racing because I feel it will make racing to be not as competitive as it currently is. I also feel the info we have been given about Lipos being easy to maintain and use may not be as simple as originally thought. What happens if you refuse to charge at 3C or warm up your pack to a certain temperature but all of sudden guys you were normally running with are faster than you but there doing all this crap ? You will either have to do it , just live with the fact you can't hang with them unless you do it or quit racing. I should be happy that Lipos are now legal for racing as our Lipos have very good performance and were committed to staying on top of this market but believe it or not I just want RC racing to be competitive and fair. The current NiMh may not be the most reliable cells we have had but there is an abundance of great cells for everyone and this is reflected by very tight racing at the major races. How would you feel if you buy 140 dollar pack to go to a big race only to find out that your pack is obsolete because company X has a new pack that is .20 of a second faster on the track and it costs 175.00." That is exactly my point of view as well ... Steve. TQ Cells TBRC1 03-03-2008, 10:37 PM Steve the ENR-G packs I got are flat out killer. I TQ'd both 4 cell stock and 4 cell 13.5 at the local track yesterday. Won the stock and had trouble in the 13.5 main. Look forward to getting some more soon. Hey quick question I've haven't ran my packs in a couple of weeks is there ANYTHING special I should to to them for a race this weekend. because after the birds they sat 1/2 charged for like 2 weeks then I discharged equalized and cycled numbers were pretty darn good. then I put 10 mins back in them for the 1 week rest. R an them once on race day. and they felt awesome up front but then leaved off. I was thinking that I should run them twice. what do you think focker? I personnaly runs my best 2 packs per race day ... pack #1 in heat #1 and #3 then pack #2 in heat #2 and main. Your EnerG4600 battery packs can be stored 50% charged and they'll be fine for 5-6 weeks without any problem ... just follow the TQ procedure and you'll be fine (4600 battery care section at www.tqcells.com (http://www.tqcells.com)).
