View Full Version : Last one for the year....
tjd241 01-01-2008, 12:56 AM Happy New Year!!... Here's one thats close enough to being done to call done. Just needs some Future.... but that's next year... in the future..HA! This is a JL pullback, seats ripped out, body hogged out pretty severely, bumpers shaved, windshield chopped, driver frankensteined from 2 railroad guys, and a tonneau made from a shower curtain... (gee honey, I don't know how that hole got in the shower curtain  )... It's one I've put of for a while. Gotta do better with that... perhaps a resolution is in the air. hmmm

Dranoel Dragon 01-01-2008, 01:21 AM Nice lookin' Vette, all dacked out for the track.
Looks like the last one for me for the year is the Opal Speedster. I was really hoping to get my new Stratos done but it took forever for the basecoat to dry. ( See Testors rant) The Speedster is now drying after its second clearcoat and the Stratos is drying after windshield and some detail paint.
tjd241 01-01-2008, 01:46 AM Who's casts are those? Very different... I like those. So.. No Times Square and hoot'n and holler'n for you eh?... Me?... Instead of champagne I had an ice cream sundae, as I watched the Beverly Hillbillys marathon, with my pajamas pulled up to my armpits :hat: ... Who says I can't hang anymore?...nd

The Opal is a HellonWheels8 (where I get most of my modern chassis bods) and the Stratos is an Alfaslot1/Giperjet (where I get most of my Tjet bods)
I got home from work around 8:30, cracked a bottle of Irish Mist, grilled a ham & Swiss on rye/pumpernickel swirl, locked the doors and hid. I don't go anywhere on New Years Eve anymore. It's just asking for an early burial. Especially around here.
Tomorrow I'll fix a corned beef brisket and have Reubens for lunch. I may or may not go to a movie later.
Bill Hall 01-01-2008, 02:52 AM Sweet 'Vette Nuther, From humble beginnings, "massacreed" railroad men and shower curtains.
I always love to read about how folks pull the rabbit out of the hat and their innovative use of common household items.
"What are doing in the bathroom!?" "Nuttin' honey...snip snip snip...just makin' a "Nuther" tonneau cover."
Snuck out early tonight and grabbed some fish and chips before all the crazies hit the road. Kicked back and tuned in to a TwilightZone marathon.
Doo doo doodoo, doo doo doodoo....
Scary when ya really think about it...I saw them all as premieres. Seems more like Halloween than New Years Eve! :freak:

Must be nice.. I watched a truck drive off the boat ramp..( he got himself stopped just as his grill went under and then backed out) then chased another truck around the Marina workshop and watched him trash his undercarriage on dock poles..lol.. I love shore patrol on heavy drinking nights...but I did get off shift in time!

41-willys 01-01-2008, 12:10 PM great looking vette. Just tell the wife that the shower curtain is getting a little brittle and pieces are falling off of it   . Coach, I would have been laughing my butt off watching him drive off the dock into the water.:D
SplitPoster 01-01-2008, 12:55 PM nuther, that vette is fine looking. That little railroad guy ought to thank you every day, it's a far better fate than he was intended for.
Can't you use the Bill method and goo up a patch for that shower curtain? Tell the wife it's a custom now....

joez870 01-01-2008, 04:37 PM Great Vette, Nuther!
It was cool watching the build-up of this piece. I would like to know why Tom never did one like this in the first place, eh? It sure would have been a real winner!
Your detailing skills, as always, are #1! I don't s'pose this piece is headed to the HOHT auctions....is it?
win43 01-01-2008, 04:44 PM Great looking Vette  I know where its cousin is living... :freak:

tjd241 01-04-2008, 11:37 PM It's one I was putting off for a while. Guess I had some second thoughts about messing with the pull back body, but I've still got one untouched, so it's all good. I think it's a '59 body?, but I was inspired by pics I found of a '56 Sebring racer found here... http://www.c1registry.com/downloads/Sebring_Racer.jpg I just like the bare bones aspect of the 56 pictured, not even a rollbar!!! Love this type of old racer :woohoo: ... Currently mine is getting it's share of Future slatherings to slick it up. nd
