I should have my first sample set of four late this week, early next week. Each day I'll post several angles and pics of each diorama for your review. After the fourth day of pictures I'll be asking for input on potential new dioramas. It's better to see the first run before we do that so we all understand the size and scope of the packaging issues at hand. Should be fun and very refreshing!!!!

Stay tuned. Until then, have a Happy New year!!!

Saw these at Walmart the other day. They had 2, a General Store with a Town & Country Wagon parked out front and a Garage with a subcompact ready to go up on the hoist. The acrylic cases appeared to be about the size of the old Hotwheels 2-car sets. They were priced at $7.92 Cdn. Didn't buy either but I think I'll go back and pick them up when the wife's not looking. :)

There is a picture on Joe's Diecast (EVERYTHING DIECAST BOARD) of one of the two currently being sold only in Canada.

We will be stocking all of the releases as soon as they are US available.

UPS just dropped them off. I'll take pictures this weekend and share with you all. Does anybody mind if I e-mail them the pictures to load for us all as I am the most useless person ever on a PC?

First up Moment in Time is "MY GARAGE".

The casting included is the white Plymouth Horizon and at this point I have no idea if the cars are random or not. The outside package is in English and French so obviously these are slated for Canada as well and I believe the Harley trucks hit the great north before the states.

The outside box is blue with silver foil letters and white font. It serves little more than a corner and scratch buffer for the more important clear cube inside the box. The box has a large front and side windows in it so you can clearly see the three sides of the diorama without having to purchase or destroy the outside box to view the item. I have not officially measured it but it looks about 5 inches wide by 2 3/4 inches tall by 2 inches deep.

The black base has the title name of each Moment listed on the front. Both dioramas have three walls but they do not form 90 degree angles but rather a more 45 degree approach which gives it a cool and unique depth.

This Horizon is twist wired to the base sitting square over a creeper. In front of the car is an oil pan two jacks and two car ramps which are jocking under the 45 degree wall that has the garage door in the up position, roller style in silver. All walls are white with nostalgia correct license plates, clocks, pin up car calender type photos and opposite wall has a window. The window wall side has a green cabinet with oil can on top, three tires next to that (real rubber ones used in production not fake molded in a plastic glob) and a bottle of anti-freeze. The back wall is the money shot.

Three Snap-On style looking chests, one being a standard two top tool chest and the other is the standard table top size chest. On top of that chest sits a silver molded in scale motor and a five quart bottle of oil. There is a higher shelf with two cans of lube and a green hand held tool box. Decals on the back wall highlight a set of wrenches, a calender, cube window and a sink mirror above a pedestal style sink with waste can under it. It is a thing of beauty and I see people buying these for the diorama quailty itself and rotating in and out their favorite castings.

The only slight issue I have on this diorama is the backside of the window wall. It has four more actual rubber production tires back there along with what looks like a chew spitoon but the window itself and wall is not finished off on that side as you;ll note in the pictures to come. I hope the final production either completes that side or pulls those items off so the eye doesn't go back there in the first place. A very small gripe on a near flawless execution. for those who like to PIP or make your casting rustic, I can only image the final results!

I don't know what the retail price is yet but I must admit, if you had to purchase these pieces in scale to make this you could easily drop twenty bucks. Yes some are molded in place, and all items are secured in one fashion or another probably to meet child safety issues but the fact remains with casting and pieces this is nothing, I repeat NOTHING like the JL or HW's dioramas we have been given card art on to pass as a scene-like item. This is the REAL deal!!!! On a one to ten, i give it a 9.5 and if they fix the window, clearly cutting edge. It's original, fun, and that new approach we have all been longing for.

Next up......Country General Store and somebody did their homework!

Country General Store.

Same 45 degree pitch to the walls as well but this time both side walls are drive through style. All walls are done in rustic wood grain style boards and to match the family on a weekend feel this casting is the Town and Country wood grain wagon in white. A perfect selection. The drive through wall in front of the car has store style signs hanging and situated in the back corner is a very well done white ice chest, 50 gallon oil drum and a very large Star Trek looking Tribble sitting in a pot. The backside of the car wall has again, a sign which looks much like a movie poster from the 50's, very cool. In that corner is a 60's vintage pull bottle pop machine and two real rubber tires, the back wall is again just killer. Two early 40's style globe top pumps that could pass for Wayne 866's sitting in front of a small porch, tan door, windows, waste can and green park bench. The red shingle roof helps set off the red gas pumps and they did not go on the cheap with decals and color. How many times do you see others try and pass off two colors of molded plastic to be all things to all items as this is not the issue here. The attention to depth, color and hues makes the space provided the best bang for the buck. There are two more Tribble style plants by the porch as well. I actually like this version better than the other and I gave that a 9.5 out of ten so the only way to make this better is to add a person or two.

Sometimes you get a hit, lucky ones stretch it to a double, these are grand Slams. Maurice is on to something here and from the lack of what we have been getting from others the time is ripe for something to talk about again and this is it!

Been a long time since something in die-cast got my juices flowing and this is it. I'm going to get busy on some mock-ups for round two!

If somebody could please e-mail me at m_hosaflook@skylinecorp.com that would not mind posting pictures for me on these items Monday morning, I'd really appreciate it.

i wonder how long it will take the other companys to start doing this now that motor max steped up to the plate first?
as long as motor max stays ahead of the game and gets there product out to the people i think thay will have a profitable year and steal away some collectors from all brands.
i look forward to see these in person and if thay look as good as the pic's there gonna go fast.

Resized and pretty good looking even if I do say so myself. Since there are a few pictures just click here (http://photos.hobbytalk.com/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=19982) to view them. I am going to keep an eye out for these no doubt.

Those are nice, but can they be removed from the base? If they can be, can the outside walls be pushed back to make a flat front? As it sits it's a nice diorama, but I'd like to see the ability to make them into a small town, possibly interconnecting them. I like the details, the coke and ice machine, very nice touch. Will be getting the gas station one.

That's a great idea. Make them interconnect for one long diorama. That would look great on a shelf.

I hear what you are saying but if you took those walls and moved them to a straight connecting wall type scenerio they'd have to redo the openings as they would no longer make sense. The garage might be doable but if you line up the store it looks like you can drive into it then. Maybe a drive through store, lol? It would also lose 3-D appeal I expect and the flat ongoing scene would look contrived and out of scale. As a "slice" they can pass but if you line those up you can clearly see the perspective would be lost,IMHO.

They are cemented in place and it would not take much to slice through the connection I expect and with hobby model styrene it would be easy to make a fourth wall and customize to your liking. There's a lot going on in that tight space and the bang for the buck is without dispute.

I agree the bang for the buck is there, once I get one, me and a knife will have to see what we can do.
