View Full Version : sinterd rotor make a difference?????
iroczcec 12-31-2007, 10:53 AM hey guy just wondering if any one has run the 4300 brushless motor with out the sintred and then run one with? i had i guy tell me that he didnt notice a difference but i find that hard to believe when your running trinity spec packs. look foward to hearing what you guys have to say thanks iroc
OvalTrucker 12-31-2007, 11:13 AM The sintered rotor does make a difference. For starters the motor will run significantly cooler using the same gearing that you had with the bonded rotor. Given that alone, you can usually hang a little more gear on it. Then your chassis has to be able to carry the extra speed through the corner to fully benefit from the sintered rotor.
swtour 12-31-2007, 01:44 PM ...I noticed on a couple tracks during the year that the car turned better lap times with the non-sintered rotor. This wasn't because the motor with the sintered wasn't better/faster, it was more than the car could get to the ground on that day...so the 'detuned' motor without a sintered was actually able to HAMMER DOWN harder...and ran quicker laps, and more of them.
One of these tracks is a fairly slippery capped tire track - the HOT 10.5Pro seemed to just have TOO MUCH rip off the corners for the track conditions on that day.
(This was in my sons NASTRUCK where we ran 10.5/4 cell) - Oh and he TQ'd with the NON-SINTERED version on that capped track.
I keep one motor w/o a sintered rotor..just for that reason (Just like the LARGER Rotor is a TUNING Rotor....the same can be done with a NON-SINTERED motor on some tracks if you use it to tune to YOUR ability...vs. trying to do 'What the Fast Guys Do')
ICEMAN96 12-31-2007, 02:20 PM Cec I Just Took My Trucks Apart It Had A Bonded Not A Sinterd Im Going To Oil The Bearings And Run A Sinterd Rotor 2 Heats And Bonded 2.im Cycling My Trinity Specs I Know A Have A Better One Than I Run,and Dropping 3 Ounces.
iroczcec 12-31-2007, 02:41 PM i thought all ribbed can 10.5 came with a sinterd rotor?
ICEMAN96 12-31-2007, 02:49 PM I Think They Do I Found The Rotor Out Of It In A Novak Tube.i Had It Marked Ran Once And The Number Of That Motor.
iroczcec 12-31-2007, 06:21 PM hey by the way congrats on setting the record with or without the sintered rotor you were way over weight. we are going to start running brushless truck again but we are going to race wt packs,4300 or 10.5 with sintered rotors and probaly any novak brushless esc.

The newer 10.5's come with sintered rotors. I have an older 4300 (10.5) that had the bonded one. Threw a sintered rotor in there and works great too! Haven't really seen alot of difference. Like someone said, they will run cooler with the same gear you had on the bonded one. All a guy could do is run'um both and compare times.
KenBajdek 12-31-2007, 09:15 PM When comparing bonded vs sintered you are gaining about 40 watts per Novak's chart. On a short track you can feel the extra pull. On a larger track maybe not as much. But motor temps can drop as mucha s 30-40 F.
iroczcec 01-01-2008, 03:12 PM Hi Cecil
All of the SS10.5 Pro motors have the sintered rotor and the ribbed end-bells. The sintered rotors are definitely required for racing as they can handle much higher temps.
THIS CAME DIRECTLY FROM NOVAK2.

SOUNDS GOOD TO ME[[WHAT ABOUT RUNNING A CAR BODY]] THANKS... IT'S NICE TO HEAR THAT YOUR DOING GOOD FROM GUYS YOU LOOK UP TO.
iroczcec 01-01-2008, 06:32 PM I Would Like To Run A Car Body Justs Depends On What Everone Else Wants To.
