OK, before you shoot me, these are 1:32 slot cars from some Spanish company called FLY. I pick them up for a song at a local antique store.

I am going to remove the slot guide and display several in my cases as great race replicas! I don't care that they are plastic, they are done very well!
Several are missing parts and most have cracked tires, and I posted tonight on the Slot Car Boards requesting a sorce for parts.

But what I need from you guys is a history lesson! You guys know all the history behind the 1:32 road racing rides you post, so I am hoping you can help me out here as well. I don't mean the history behind the slot car company, but the cars as they are shown.

I know some of them, but not near enough. If you can tell me about any of these, OR point me in a good direction as to a web site that can give me the history, I would love it! Thanks for looking and any help in advance!

Man, those are some awesome looking cars! That's cool you're gonna diplay them as static models.
They're allmost too perty to run around the track!

Now do you mean history on the 1:1 versions???
I know the top 2 are ('68-'71?)Lola T-70s powered by a Chev. small block. They did very well and still do in vintage racing.
The car in the middle on the bottom pic is a Porshe 917. This was a big harry beast that won LeMans in '71 I think it was? and it did SO DAMN GOOD that they OUTLAWED it and any vehicle of it's caliber as I understand it. I believe that #20 Gulf car is the Dicky Atwood car that won. You MUST see the Steve McQueen movie called "LeMans."

If this is not what you were asking about than...woops - I'm a dOrK!i!i!

the position they finished is in my first posting. If no position is stated then the car didnt finish the race.

Thanks Dale fan so much. I have no idea where I would have looked.

As to finishing order, the last car on the list, the 908 from the 71' Targa Florio did not finish. Correct? Also the Blue Lola did not finish?

So now I just need to find out about the green one.

Thanks again!

Hello 69stang !

The green Lola T70 #34 entered the 1000 km de Spa-Francorchamps in 1970. Driven by Gérard Pillon and Louis Morand, this Lola was 16th on the starting grid and eventually disqualified after 2 laps.

Ward, a good source for info on these types of cars is www.racingsportscrs.com - I find it invaluable.

Thank you so much. I find it so odd that they build replicas of cars that were DQ'd after two laps. In a world run by nascar you can only make 12 versions of the winning car! :p

Again thanks for the info! I am sure I am going to make someone mad, but I have chopped up several to make others complete. I have also removed the slot guides. I hope forgivness is in my cards!
