Hey gang, not new to Hobby Talk (I am from the Diecast side) but VERY new to slots! I am lookig for a little bit of help on the following pics.

I picked up this lot at a local antique store for a one flat price. I am a HUGE road and sports car fan, and these just blew me away! I will be displaying as static models thanks to the amazing detail. But several have cracked tires. Several are missing mirrors and are just a bit "raced", but seveal look brand new! My first questions is...where can I find exact replacement tires for these cars? Over half of these the rubber is cracked in half!!!!!

I have been all over the web and can just not find the exact versions as they appear here. I can find "racing" versions that I asume will fit, though I can not find many of these models listed in FLY list. But the racing style have no name and tread. I would love to find the same as orgional. Can anyone offer any ideas of where to look?

Second, can anyone offer any history on the cars themself? Not the Fly slot cars, but the history on the real cars that are replacted here. I know some, but I want a bit of history on them all.

Thanks so much to you all. Thanks for letting a diecast guy hang out!

Ward

I'm not all too familar with them, but, I'll tell you this, some of those cars do not look like FLY's - they actually look like Slotters, especially the chevron style cars.

If you really want to dig into them, SCI (Slot Car Illustrated) has TONS of racing and 1/32 scale car buffs that know their stuff about which car is what as well as ALL of the true 1:1 scale racing history. Those guys just blow me away some times. Take a moment and throw a post there and see what they say.

Sorry I could not be of more help than that.

PD2, thank you so much for that link, I looked around and I am going to post there today.

I posted in the 1:43 scale diecast board, because of all the same subject matter is in both scales. I already recived a TON of good info.

Now I just need to dig up some tires! So it off to SCI I go! Again, thank you for the help. As for the brand, each car really is a FLY Classic, thay all have the exact same chassie!

Excellent! Glad I could give you some more direction to make headway on this. And that's interesting they are all FLY Classics. You have my curiosity up and I'm going to have to check that out.

See you on SCI or here!
