Greetings All,

Would most agree that if chrome parts are worn that should be replated not painted "chrome" ?

thanks

Mike, I've dipped parts in chrome before and gotten some very outstanding results for years. Bare Metal foil is an alternative and it stands up pretty well to abuse on bumpers. Rechroming is expensive and takes a lot of time to send it out and get it back, I'd try one of the other two first.

Chroming will cost about 3.00 a bumper, 5.00 a body, PLUS a setup fee for them to build a jig, which is usually about 20.00 or so.
If you have a bunch and want the original "chrome" look go for it, if not touch them up with paint.
I have tried metal foil and would rather wipe my arse with sandpaper.....either way its a pain in the ...........you know.

Bare metal is tough to work with, around compound inside curves you always wind up with a wrinkle. I've dipped chrome before and it looks OK but never seems to dry very hard.

I've been playing with Alclad II lately and I have to say I am VERY impressed with the results. Though I admit the label says to spray it on, I have been dipping bumpers and grills right into the bottle and they look fantastic. I haven't tried bare metal but been wanting to. I just can't see it looking any better than the Alclad. Especially on detailed parts like grills.
