:wave: Greetings all;

In the realm of resincast bodies, what is a fair price for the following;

A one piece repop of an older HO (Aurora,Marx, Atlas etc.)body in white resin ?

A repop of an older HO Body but with separate accessories ( driver heads or driver,glass,pipes etc) in white resin?

A one piece body based on a prototype that you spent many long hours designing & developing from an existing body in white resin?

Same as above but for extra accessories ?

Thanks ! , Neal :dude:

Hi Neal

On the 'Bay, I have seen nice "add a post" bodies (posts included) for 8 bucks.

I have seen them with posts molded in and with all the bits along side for 10 to 18 bucks.

Since I won't sell on the 'Bay, I rather like swapping and giving mine (to HT guys) instead of taking any bucks. For me, it is about love for the hobby instead of the bucks. :thumbsup:

For a slosh cast body (Single sided mold) $8-10. (Alfaslot/Giperjet)

Full inside/outside mold, one piece: $12-15 (HellonWheels8, BnBGoodies)
Figure an extra $2-3 for each additional piece.

For injection molded bodies $12-18 depending on size and detail (RRR, MEV, HO-Models)
Again expect to pay an additional $2-5 for each additional piece.

If parts are chrome plated you can expect to pay $5-10 more.

Also depends on the quality of the casting, there are a wide range out there. Resins are what I go after more than anything at the shows.
When it comes to putting all your hard work, paint,decals into it, just remember, the guy who may be bidding on it is still looking at it as a resin car. (I have sold a few of my finished resin cars for 30.00-53.00 tops, but that was before there was a ton of guys into resin selling on fleabay, the last couple I think I got the starting bid of 19.99)
The cars meant more then 19.99 to me and I stopped casting. the ones I sell now are bodies I get in trades with that guy in Arizona, or lots I buy on the fleabay.

Don't know about HO-Models but MEV is all Resin and all of RRR are all resin except the car with trailere and teh Mustangs he got from Nu-Rora and I belive his newest Mach I is injection molded too. They are just so darn good resin models that many folks think they are injectiuon molded. All od Das-Motorsports are injection molded

simple resin 8 -12

better resin 12 -18

resin kits ie many parts 15 -25

injection molded 9 -15

All bodies only

detailed resin body ready to race 15 - 100.00

This is a good question, but as you see, the amount paid depends on the individual's needs and wants. I have sold resin bodies for as low as $10 ea., the "kits" for $15-20 each. I haven't sold any for over $20 and they are all unfinished. I have also sold finished resin bodies, or my services to finish off a supplied body. When someone "asks" me to do something, then I consider that part a business. I have, on the other hand, given my finished stuff away or traded for it. Why?? Just because.

I agree with Coach's comments about the level of casters out there. There are some who's casts are...well, let's just say you have to have decent modeling skills to get them right. Then there are the RRR, MEV, etc. They are at the top of the hobby without equals. I think I fit into the middle of the pack somewhere. My only claim, is I try to do bodies no one else is doing. And, they are more for the magnet chassis, and not for the T-jet chassis. I believe there is enough room out there for all the casters to do their thing.

The "Fair Price"...???? I guess it depends on how bad you want that particular body.

I have to comment on this one.. Middle packer? I think not gary, I have about 4 of your bodies and I rank them right at the top for detail, fit and finish...I was shooting off my mouth about your stuff long before ya joined HT, you do awesome work and I for one truely appreciate how you go outside the box to create even newer bodies.. Now start selling me more!!!!

Coach!

:thumbsup: Thanks. I guess I'm harder on myself for two reasons. #1 is because I know where I take liberties at on the masters and the detail is not what the other casters have at times. The #2 reason is simple. If I stay somewhat modest, I won't disappoint as much when the product arrives...... :lol:

Which bodies do you have? Do you have them mounted yet?

I know I have to send some extra C5R wings to somebody....... :freak:

I am no pro and tried my hand at some resin casting. I, like others, like to give them away. I just read a post on a Chevy truck site about some 1/64 trucks they are collecting. My goal is to make a few and get them into the slot car hobby by mixing both loves together for them. I did sell one on fleabay and am still giving the rest away to respectful friends. I have a few bodies that I am patiently waiting to finish also from others that were about $12 a piece. I did not feel robbed especially knowing what goes into it. David

Thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it.

Personally ,for me, I left "Slosh" casting behind as soon as I went to the next step up to two piece molds.Slosh is simply too time consuming for me & the customer who has to attach the seperate posts. Two piece is better as the posts are already molded in.I still believe there is still a place for slosh molds as far as prototyping is concerned but thats it.
