Anyone using the xbr Sport brushless for racing? If so how do you like it?

I've run it outdoors with a 19 turn brushed motor and a 13.5 brushless motor. worked fine for me. I even cut half of the heatsink off to get it to fit in another car without any trouble.

Ran it with 13.5 with the the heat sink milled off. Just as fast as GTB (carpet/oval).

I used one for the last half of the season in the SouthWest Tour in my velodrome Nastruck with 4 cell, 10.5 with no problems. Will use it with lipo 10.5 and 17.5 next season with no worries.

Novak's reply to my question about their Brushless Esc follows

Hi
I am considering going to brushless in my XXXT Losi.
I am a fan of Novak products, but have seen and heard many complaints about the GTB esc burning up shortly after installation.
Is there an issue with these controllers and is Novak addressing it?
Thanks

Hello Sir,

An “Issue” I would say no. There have been a handful of very spectacular failures for sure though. We’ve taken a good hard look at most of these “burn up” situations we can, and have been working on new ways to test here to catch them. So, as always, we’ve added more test procedures.

It sounds like a very rehearsed company line, but, we’re always adding testing and finding ways to stop field failures from happening.

Also, I have found many situations related to usage problems as well. Wrong gearing, battery shorts, wiring problems, drivetrain “jams”. I’m not saying all, or even most were related to these things, just that not every failure is a bad ESC. Some of the more spectacular failures are damage related.
