View Full Version : Why Is There No 1966 Batmobile? spockboy 12-21-2007, 05:47 PM I heard a rumor about licensing issues but I'm not sure. I just bought the new Hot Wheels Batmobile but its TINY. ANY thoughts? : ) computer guy 12-21-2007, 05:51 PM You might check out other Brand names. besides Mattel, I think Corgi might have one. I am pretty sure that there are others out there. CG 1A62 12-21-2007, 06:36 PM I wonder how it compares to the original car by JL, the Lincoln Futura. Anyone have both? jage1966 12-21-2007, 07:24 PM Not quite sure what you're asking. Mattel has the rights to do the 1966 Batmobile. They've released it in 1:64 scale in their basic line so far. At the San Diego Comic Con, they released an exclusive 1:64 version with a bit more detail than their basic release. They also offered an exclusive 1:18 version covered in "batfuzz." The regular version in 1:18 scale has been delayed but will come out in '08. There's also been an announcement Mattel is going to release a series of Bat-Vehicles in 1:50 scale, including the '66 Batmobile. So there ya go. - JJ www.hollywood-diecast.com (http://www.hollywood-diecast.com) 164hack 12-22-2007, 12:29 AM Yeah, I got both. If that's a new camera under the tree, should be able to post some side by side. Haven't really put the two in proximity of each other so at this point can't guess the degree of difference but I'm pretty sure the Futura is going to look SuperSize. jage1966 12-22-2007, 01:13 AM http://www.hollywood-diecast.com/futuras%20poolside2.JPG- JJ edseldave 12-22-2007, 01:47 AM Hot Wheels has listed a 1/18 version as coming in '08 . Will have to wait for it .. Karl 12-22-2007, 02:55 PM The Barris version has been the most sought after and hotly litigated license - ever. It's just a hunch but I suspect Mattel was only able to use it under some clause inherited from the older Corgi/Husky license after they bought them up. To their credit (which I don't offer up often) Mattel did do a great job on the basic .99 casting and its red tampo trim and there really has been no shortage of them. robiwon 12-23-2007, 08:59 AM I just picked up three short cards last night at Walmart, just before some idiot maced the toy aisle! spockboy 12-27-2007, 10:43 PM Thanks guys. I think I'm looking for the 1:18 scale which is apparently coming out in 2008. Thanks again! : ) vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
