Does anyone have a good starting rollout for a 17.5 / LiPo combination on a wide open track? (Running a NASCAR Body with the rear cut out.) I heard a rumor that guys in Easley, SC are running around 1.642 ratio with spec tires, which is a 4.54"/R. Seems tall, but a few threads here claim that the 17.5 has to be geared 'to the moon'.
Thanks,
Bob

On the 820 ft. velo I believe we ran in the 5.50+ roll out range w/ 2.5" caps. (I'd have to recheck the notes, but I believe it was a 76/53m may have even been a 55.
I know at the last race, I ran the 21.5/lipo at 76/63 and think I can still go 2 more teeth.

gear it until it thermals and then back of 2 teeth is what I was told by a reliable source. (didn't expect to see me hear, did you bob!)

The ESC will thermal before the motor, and it's easy to do if the car is at all tight. Not a good indicator. I would make sure the chassis is working well and gear the motor by lap times. If you go up two teeth and pick up a tenth, nice. Repeat until it levels out.
