When I started at GreenLight, one of the first things I wanted to know was what is a Green Machine chase car? Production Manager Matt Elliott’s been creating these for over two years, so I asked him.
First, he told me that only two percent of the cars from each production run are Green Machine versions. GreenLight includes them in every scale it produces: 1:64, 1:24, and 1:18. To put that in perspective, if GreenLight runs 5,000 pieces of a blue 1:64-scale 1964 Plymouth Fury, 100 of those will be Green Machines.
Look for the following traits. Note that GreenLight-Green™ is a brilliant emerald-green metallic paint.
1) GreenLight-Green Body
2) GreenLight-Green Chassis
3) GreenLight-Green Rims
4) GreenLight-Green Interior
5) Green Tires
A Green Machine can have one of these features, and occasionally a combination. We hope the variety makes them harder for non-collectors to spot, and easier for them to get into your hands!

Drdealone 12-20-2007, 04:54 PM How about just a green tinted windshield? That would be missed by the scalpers :)

jedimario 12-20-2007, 05:18 PM How about something orginal?
JasonZ 12-20-2007, 08:47 PM I agree
NYSWLHUNTER 12-22-2007, 10:45 AM What could be original? hmmm
well lets go with a list of what we see now in chase cars
large obvious green strip on the rt.side of the card
tire colors-white, pink, green, grey
interior colors-white,green?
body color-white, green, RAW, chrome the list goes on
packaging identifiers-white lightning, green machine, treasure hunt, 1 of 2500.etc
wheel variations
engine variations
all kinds of
variations in chase pieces. hobby exclusives ,pieces of race cars,
ok so what is original That we can think of? im pretty sure anything we think of has already been thought of.
what about inserting prepros into the runs? they seem popular but most collectors dont want loose cars that cost them $200+. think of it a one of ten car found at a store. it would be in the regular package with nothing to tell it apart from the others. It would be even better to find it at i clearance store! a true chase. and of course to keep with the times we still run are regular chase cars.
cool idea?
A little jade-green neckers knob on the steering wheel - yeah, that's the ticket!
jedimario 12-23-2007, 01:27 AM The whole green thing is fine, but to do the same thing Johnny Lightning's been doing for years and years with a different color?
Surely there's something someone could think of. Maybe just accent a chase car in green somehow instead of painting the whole thing green. Maybe a stripe or...something.
NYSWLHUNTER 12-23-2007, 10:32 AM Green ghost flames?
HonCBRF4i 12-23-2007, 11:38 AM you could do green racing stripes on the cars that have them, plus that will make it harder to see, especially for the peeps that just cruise through the pegs looking for the green cars. You can even do just green windows, that hasn't been done by JL yet...
Macs_Little_Car 12-23-2007, 10:53 PM you could do green racing stripes on the cars that have them, plus that will make it harder to see, especially for the peeps that just cruise through the pegs looking for the green cars. You can even do just green windows, that hasn't been done by JL yet...
actually, JL has WLs that have tinted windows...so, while not green, the window thing has been done
HonCBRF4i 12-23-2007, 11:02 PM Then it hasn't been done yet...even though I think green windows would look like crap.
cih1979 12-24-2007, 01:53 AM Why doesnt Greenlight seek out other castings like VW's and foreign cars. Is it that hard to get the licensing rights to produce those kinds of cars? Look how successful ANYTHING VW has ever been for JL and HW's...........why dont they follow? I like muscle cars just as much as the next person, but i think classic cars are just as important AND COLLECTIBLE, regardless of performance.
in response to the make it more original thing............ whats wrong with the way GM's are done now? at least there isnt a huge $ sign on the side of the card like on HW's
jedimario 12-24-2007, 01:32 PM I don't think there's anything wrong with it in and of itself, I just think it's lame that they essentially copied JL.
3rdCoastDiecast 12-24-2007, 02:59 PM I think truly tinted green windows would be sweet as part of a GM's characteristics, but it would need to be on a gasser style or drag style car IMHO
Firebirds 12-24-2007, 04:02 PM from a secondary buying perspective i wouldn't pay for just a green stripe or just a green tinted window.
just because they would be harder to notice right away doesnt make your chances of finding one any better.
it aint broke.
