Racenut53 12-20-2007, 01:49 PM Hey guys, Just getting into 1/4 scale and need to know some set-up tips.
Ride height frame to ground all 4 corners, or do you set it off something else?
Are all shocks compressed some at ride height or is any of them fully extended?
Any body have extra springs to sell LMK.

dizzy 12-22-2007, 12:22 AM Why don't you all share with everyone?
Tim Mc 12-22-2007, 12:48 AM I don't think there’s a problem here with sharing setup information. The issue is which track/s you are asking for? Some information can be misleading due to the differences from track to track. The three tracks here in the S/E will probably have a similar car setup other than gearing, but not all chassis are the same nor are the track's characteristics, racer's driving styles, time of the year...yada yada.
GILYHANTREE 12-24-2007, 02:30 AM Why don't you all share with everyone?just ask and i will give you something to try i know the wcm cars real well if you give me track footage banking and track width i can get you close but the grip of the track will be a factor also as far as setup and gearing i have only been doing 1/4 scale for a year but picked it up pretty quick i may not be the fastest always but we always have a car close to the front i know some guys that can get you in the ballpark on pro 1 and lightning cars as well so ask up we are all here to help everyone nothing better than racing door to door with ten cars for 200 laps!!!!
Racenut53 12-24-2007, 12:49 PM thanks Guys I was just wanting a ball park mount body, ect.
Thanks For all the Help, I'm ready to make that 6hr drive to knock Willy DOWN LOL
Thanks Joey
dizzy 12-30-2007, 12:36 PM I don't want this to become something that it is not but, reread the first few posts but pretrend you are someone new looking for information about our hobby, maybe you are thinking about getting a 1/4 scale or maybe you just got one and you are hungry for infomation about setups and all the differant adjustment on these cars, somewhere to just start with these cars, you do not know what questions to ask so you are just looking for information, that was me a couple years ago, I read everthing I can find, and still do, and I am sure there are others, or at least I would hope there is.
Now you come across this thread that asks a question about wcm setup and the next 3 posts are I will email you or call you with the "set up". Suddenly, I get the feeling, weather it is true or not, and I know that it is not, that there is some secret setup up for these cars and unless I am part of the "in group" I will not find out what it is. This is no way to help the hobby grow, share everything have an open book and show everyone everything, you may say something in a setup that someone never thought of and will try it and it works great for them, but people just getting started and looking around will even be more appricative that all this knowledge that you guys all have is being shared with everyone.
Sorry if I pissed anyone off and I will get off my soapbox now, that was my two cents if anyone cares.
Tim Mc 12-30-2007, 01:42 PM You contradicted yourself in your own post. You said that you were looking for information back when you started a couple years ago. So, you have been racing at least two years & read everything you can, yet you didn't offer any information at all. Why?
If I'm looking for good information & someone offers it to me whether it be by email, phone or links, I'm certainly not going to take it the wrong way. I don't think I have ever seen one post on this QSAC forum requesting information on our racing go un-answered in some manner.
Sorry to reply to your post this way but I see it differently.

Racenut53 12-30-2007, 01:58 PM Tim, wolf, you know
Thanks for answering, I have been bombarded with people trying to help off this forum. Willy has been great, Fred M. has been very helpful.
I can't say enough about this forum and the people at LPR!!!!!!
I came down there one time and met a good group of guys and hope to travel 6 hrs to just see you all again, and to get WILLY. LOL
Like you said he saw they posted call or e-mail? It is hard to do this on the forum questions change and some need to be more in depth which can only be done on the phone! E-mail is for personal info telephone number ect.
Keep up the good work
Joey
Tim Mc 12-30-2007, 02:08 PM Aslo try here http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=173358&page=1&pp=15 This thread has tools listed and some setup trouble shooting information.
dizzy 12-30-2007, 02:10 PM But Tim, I never said I understood everything, I by far am no expert on these cars, that is why I do not offer info, I do not want to steer somone the wrong way, I am still learning, there are guys here that know way, way, way more then what I know so I would reather let the guys that know thier stuff help people out, I do help when I can but until I get more experienced I feel there are better people to help out.
back to lurking.
Tim Mc 12-30-2007, 02:11 PM If anyone likes to read here is an excellent site for setup info. Some of it will not apply to 1/4 scale but it offers a ton of chassis information that anyone can use.

Tim Mc 12-30-2007, 02:25 PM Dizzy, I don't think you will find one person on here that will admit to being an expert but we all try to offer what we can. I don't think you would mislead anyone just by giving your opinion on setup. Give it a try.

hotshoe317 12-30-2007, 11:41 PM if you looking for chassis help look into the stevie smith line of books he has one for damn near anything with wheels. his sprint car chassis book it like a bible to me. check it out it's the best 30.00 you'll spend Brad
Chance62 12-31-2007, 01:27 AM Yes, I agree. The Steve Smith books are great for beginners. It tells you possible adjustments to make to the car depending on what part of the corner you have handling problems. This is however not a "quarterscale" set up book. It is widely used at local short tracks. Great book to teach basics.
