People like this is why I am selling all of my 10th scale stuff. very unappreciative. Dyno/75amp power supply/laptop/lathe. adamliehr 12-19-2007, 01:04 PM Come on guys, let's not bring crap on this thread. The new track is flat and will run both oval and road course. I got an e-mail from Steve this morning. They ground out the area where the track is going to be and laid some new acrylic concrete that is supposed to be harder than steel and very smooth. They are then going to lay the new CRC Rubber backed carpet on top of that. At first I thought that there might be a problem with no sub floor as Frank had mentioned. However I did a little research and I know of a few tracks that have done this with the rubber stuff and it worked great and holds bite well as long as the room is not freezing. Which leads to the next point. Steve and the landlord are going to insulate and put drywall up along the walls to help keep the track area somewhat cost efficient to heat. As Eric mentioned, Steve will be doing some electrical work within the building. Hopefully this will put those issues in the past. Yesterday he built the tables and finished the concrete on the track. Today his plans are to put the tops on the tables and clean the floor to get everything ready to paint. His goal is to get everything finished tomorrow evening! Steve is also planning on updating the hobby shop as well and is going to talk to Freddy about starting some sort of a points system so both tracks can survive. I am not 100% sure on what his schedule is going to be, but it sounds like it might be: Tuesday: Beginers Night - Help out the hobby and bring new guys in. Friday: Road Racing Saturday: Oval Racing Possibly practice throughout the week. This schedule would allow for road racers to race at the gate on Saturdays and Beaver on Sundays. As well as oval racers to race at Freddies on Sunday. Steve has been working his butt off trying to get this place ready to go. I am assuming that the first race day will be on New Years day. I'll let Steve give the final word on that one though. -Adam Liehr Hangtime 12-19-2007, 01:49 PM Wow, Good Luck with the new format. It makes me excited to hear about the hard work. I plan on haveing it open the second weekend of Jan. so we can get down to to laying in the new tracks on the track. The track is 36 by 90 , and there is a total of 57 pits up front and room for more down the side and in the back which will go in before we have our first BIG race in which i can only hope we will need them . Little things that were left will be hung around so we can flash back from where we started, as long as nobody minds(love the hat). It seems to be comming along pretty well, so thanks for hanging in there, i think all you guys will really enjoy it . Steve S. Beero 12-21-2007, 03:25 AM Looks great steve. I will always miss the banked track, but this looks like the start of an awesome, awesome track. I will there to run MOD soon. We all need to make sure we support both tracks! Both guys have put tons and tons of time and money into their tracks so we can have great places to race and they both deserve our gratitude and respect. Unfortunately I can't race as much as I used too, but I'll be there as often as can to race and help out. -Adam Roman Pemberton 12-21-2007, 10:26 AM you got it Beero we will. sure hate that we will miss the Hang Over race but it will be huge next year im sure. i will have to go to my local applebes and not look out the window on new years make me think im in Akron LOL. Mike Pavlick 12-22-2007, 10:48 AM to the top for a new track coming!!!!!! erock1331 12-22-2007, 12:49 PM Steve, How long and wide is the infield going to be on the oval? Curious to see about how big the runline is going to be. Micro_Racer 12-22-2007, 05:39 PM as well and is going to talk to Freddy about starting some sort of a points system so both tracks can survive. I like the idea of a series points between the tracks. The BRP crew (13-25 racers) at one time raced Classics, HobbyTown, Freddies, and the Gate. It would be cool to race different tracks (road and oval) again! Be sure to email Bud Bartos (budbartos@oh.rr.com (budbartos@oh.rr.com) ) with the final schedule. I am sure he can work in our current points series to include a few races at Classics. Bigron 12-23-2007, 06:57 PM Where in akron will this track be located looks Great. Other than that probably just stock for me. We'll see though. adamliehr 12-27-2007, 10:07 AM Schedule and class list is comming, within the next few days. erock1331 12-27-2007, 11:47 AM erock, did you get that BRP together yet? it's together and running, but I have the old motor not the new one everybody runs. plus I think Bud must have had an on road body on the car cause when I tried putting the nascar body on, nothing fit right. so i need new rear mounts. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
