hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 01:47 AM robert or jeff how much for that set-up that is pretty slick would also nee the bushings brad
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 01:50 AM They will be $40.00 for the pair.
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:01 AM howmuch for the whole set-up bar bushings arms linksthinking about puting on a sprinter
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:04 AM It will be around $60.00 to $65.00for every thing. But you wouldn't want the heavy bar on a sprint would you?
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:06 AM what size is the bar? i was thinking more for dirt
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:09 AM I use alot of different sizes of Sway bars .028,.035,.040,.048,.055, and solid
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:10 AM cold roll tubing is not as stiff or maybe stanless
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:14 AM perfect i didnt know you had that many available that makes me very opimistic for that idea you have got my brain running full bore is all that stuff in stock at your shop or whats the lead time lmk Brad you said 60.00 for a set-up how much for each aditional bar and is the od of the bar the same and it tapersin in the center like a regular sway /torsion bar
KnoxMotorsports 12-23-2007, 02:16 AM yea cold roll turned down will work ,, turned down in center so if wont effect the clampimg suface of sway bar arms he can use that Jeff am thinkin about thaty myself
Robert
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:18 AM Got most of the bars they are $10.00 each and the arms are in production. It may be a week before the arms are all ready
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:26 AM perfect also wcm used to make a torsion bar car are the parts still available if say i wanted to make a torsion rear coil front car. rear coils suck on dirt at-least on a real heavy track and from the picks i've doesnt look like the tracks slick off where a coil would work okay just fishing for ideas and trying to figure out whats out there
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:29 AM I like the Bulleye rearend with the four link. I think you can get more travel with the four link than you can the trailing arm
KnoxMotorsports 12-23-2007, 02:30 AM I like the shock over coil more than the torsion bar car Robert
KnoxMotorsports 12-23-2007, 02:33 AM I converted a torsion bar car over to a 4 link rear it is in my gallery the phoenix arrow it was a super mod , made it alot easier to set up Robert
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:33 AM It all matters were the shock is mounted and what angle it on.
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:34 AM yeah the bullseye rear endis very nice checked one out a few weeks ago and the nice thing about it is that you can time the birdcages i also like the befab car with the paddle link instead of the rear panhard alot of the technology i'm seeing on these sprints is that they're pavement cars that are getting raced on dirt someone needs to build a dirt sprint car ... they are VERY different
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:36 AM The more upright a shock is the less travel you have but the bulleye has plenty of room. It is a really nice car. Top notch for the dirt.
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:37 AM hey robert did i make the car real lazy in the back the only thing bad about a coil rear dirt car is that once it gets upset its hard to get it calmed down but thats a bigcar 1100 lbs compared to 25lbs could trying to re-invent the wheel plus the torsion would be more weight
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:40 AM You just get to move all the stuff around for the dirt and give it a differant setup. You can make them all work but some are alot more work than others to switch.
KnoxMotorsports 12-23-2007, 02:40 AM I think the sway bar is a good idea it should help on what ever surface you run on I will be watchin for more pics of what you are doin Brad ,,by the way the car is lookin really good seen your pics tonight ,, Robert
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:43 AM well the wheel travel isnt a big deal cause you still drag the rail in the back on the dirt but the pick-up points on the rear radius or track bar on a pavement sprint car quite a bit farther forward than a dirt car from what i remember dirt car doesnt used asmuch offset and much narrower front axle the differance between a winged dirt car and non winged dirt car the axle is quite a bit different too.
KnoxMotorsports 12-23-2007, 02:46 AM So the narrower the front axel the better the steering or is that just a dirt thing , Robert
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:48 AM thanks roberti think the sway bar is a great idea i took and put oneon my mini sprint and showed up at a race and everyone was like what the??? i set quick time by almost a full second on a 1/5 mile bull ring . i just loads up the left rear so hard you get a TON of bite coming off it is ridiculous. i want to use all the knowledge i gained running the big car to the little car. know that i've got my wcm done i'm going to start on the new car i'll have some new pics up soon but i will need asway barkit from someone before i stand up the side rails
jeffdavis38 12-23-2007, 02:49 AM It sound like you know more about it than I do.
hotshoe317 12-23-2007, 02:54 AM shorter axle= less leverage it pins the front down harder so you get better bite on the dirt helps the car turn in ...i think i'dhave to lookin my chassis book i know the wider axle is more stable
KnoxMotorsports 12-23-2007, 03:01 AM I was told not sayin names but someone is already using a sway bvar on therear of his sprint car and is having good luck with it Still wating for pios of the job but not much longer , gonna go out to that machine shop and start cutting chips Robert
coloradotaz 12-23-2007, 06:21 PM Jeff,
Payment sent thanks for the quick transaction.
Chance62 12-24-2007, 05:50 AM My two cents.... In theory a rear sway bar will help a car turn better, mostly on corner exit. When the right rear corner is getting weight transfered to it and that particular corner of the car drops, a sway bar makes the left rear travel up with it as well. A bigger front sway bar will help with bite off but a rear wont. Rear sway bars are typically used at very small tracks with short corners to help the car get through the center of the corner. The links on the rear end of dirt cars whether they are three or four link are short for one reason. The shorter they are, the more action you get out of them. The length of the trailing arms coupled with their static ( at ride heighth) angles creates rear steer in the car, meaning under a load the LR tire gets pushed back and the RR tire pushed forward. This creates a massive amount of forward bite but i dont know if it is possible to translate this to a quarterscale even if it has a solid rear axle because you wouldnt be able to get the belt to stay on.....there are other ways to get forward bite though!!!

Swaybar arms for WCM and Lightning Both have 10-32 bolts in them $40.00 a set
WCM stile short and long arms.
Lightning standard lenth.
6victor6 01-09-2008, 12:45 AM Are there any pictures of this set up and mounted on a sprint car?? I've been wondering why I haven't been seeing that. Considering the higher cg's of a sprint car, I'd think a sway bar would be a good idea... Or am I missing something?

These are a replacement sway bar for the WCM and lightning GN cars , They use a two, 10-32 bolts to clamp with instead of three 6-32's or in the case of the lightning car it is a hole new sway bar arm ,
But a sway bar on a sprint car that could work !!! Robert
