Disco 12-11-2007, 12:05 AM Guys,
I'm just getting back into racing my RC10L3 oval car after a 5 year layoff. Anyone know of some tracks in the Indianapolis area?

j21moss 12-11-2007, 01:26 PM Hey Guys!!!! Last Saturday I heard there is a new Carpet track in Batesville,In.. they run on Saturday nights.. New Carpet, Building and everything.. but what's weird they run 3 minute heats and if there is more than 1 heat of any particular class.. then the people who make the A-main only run..No lower mains are run.. They get people in and get them out in less than 4 hours.. might have to check this place out..
Also Madison Fun-Wheeler in madison, In runs on Friday nights.. Also carpet track in Plymouth, In

Yes.. your buddy mike jefferies has been going down there to race trucks, I guess they have quite a few trucks there, I hear that it is a nice facility, but the heats are werd.....The owner from what I understand is just getting things started, has only had it for 5 months or so..

Here is the deal on the Batesville track---
He runs oval one weekend and onroad the next.
Oval--- 3 classes
Rookie--- 18th scale Mini-t's,rc18's etc... You win 3 mains and you must move up--- Basically a class for the kids.
Slider---Pretty much stock.
2WD open--- trucks, buggies etc--- no pan cars, legends or touring cars. Open meaning any motor you want bushless, mod or stock.( Me and Jefferies ran stock versus a variety of motors from a 13.5 to a 6.5 to a few Mamba maxxes to a Rustler with the Traxxas brushless system.)
Two 3 minute qualifiers--- Total laps/time sets the main. 6 car A main 4 minutes,no B main.
Onroad---3 classes
rookie---same as oval rookie
Recoil--- Basically stock except tires.
touring car open--- Just like open truck just with touring cars.
Rules and qualifying the same as oval.
The track is not ozite but pretty close to what Slots had upstairs. Not sure of runline but it is alot of fun.

Mark
yokman 12-11-2007, 09:50 PM sounds.....G A Y
Brad Boling 12-11-2007, 09:58 PM I can see that place lasting as long as a snowball bound for hell...But then again I could be wrong...I know I wouldn't like it.

j21moss 12-11-2007, 11:12 PM I heard the carpet was green. Old Stout Field Days
burbs 12-12-2007, 11:41 AM Thats an odd format.. Do they charge race fees after racing is over? That would suck to pay the same as everyone else, but not get to race the same amount.. Sound like a good deal for the track.. I remeber running 3 minute heats, but we were on 1400 cells..
j21moss 12-12-2007, 03:09 PM kinda what I thought has well.. but for what I hear..nobody complains... Fee is $10.00 so I guess not all that bad
The Batsville track is new and the owners are just getting things together and learning on the fly.(The owner used to run a midget car for his son and kind of runs it like big car races)
Yes,they do things differently but I have had FUN every time I have been down there win, lose or break.
Remember when r/c was fun and not just about winning? That is what this place is about fun, racing with your buddies for bragging rights and shooting the bull in the pits.
This place is for guys like me,Brian Smith and Dr. Moss who like to run stuff a little different from the mainstream and have as much fun bench racing and racing their mouths than the 100% balls out,win at all costs racers. If you are a "if I'm not winning I'm not having fun" racer this place is probably not your cop or tea.
This place is alot like Indy Slots when they first started racing r/c cars--- A little different from the usual race programs we are all used too but alot of fun.
Later,
Mark
j21moss 12-12-2007, 08:17 PM Mark!!! Amen Brother!!!
ovalrcr 03-01-2008, 09:25 PM FYI... Madison IN track only runs Oct thru March so they only have a few more weeks left.
ovalrcr 03-01-2008, 09:29 PM At Madison the last race of the year is a pretty nice trophy race....I can get the exact date and classes if anyone is interested. I do know it will be on Friday night though.
swtour 03-01-2008, 09:59 PM ...I think this format sounds like it would be a lot of fun for local racing... kinda breaks from tradition.
10 bucks for 2 heats - and if your good a main... quick show... sounds like someting you'd want to do on a Tuesday or Wednesday night - right after dinner.
Gets your Mid-Week racing fix - then you go do REAL racing on the weekend.
(I actually like doing 2 minute or 3 minute qualifying....but I'm a fan of lower mains w/ bump ups)
